Back in 2021 I picked up a 1890 in 22 WRF on gunbroker. Seemed like and honest rifle fair price. Shot it a some with CCI but as of late it was hanging or jamming all time.

First thought mag spring , then carrier spring. Nothing. Then a member on rimfire central spots my issue. Some moron tried to convert to 22 WMR by air grinding carrier deeper.

🤬

Cant believe I got taken but realize it could have been an honest mistake.
As the rifle would work sometimes.

Anyway the fix was to clean up seat with carbide endmill then make a button filler to press in to restore depth back to carrier.

The issue was because depth was too deep the second cartridge was hanging on mouth of carrier. Normally the bullet nose holds it back so carrier lifts up.

So moral of this story if you buy an 1890 really inspect carrier for proper cartridge .

1st. NICE work! 2. It's an 1890, unless you bought some certified safe queen collector baby. You gotta expect some wear and tear in some unexpected places. Kudo's on Ya for sittin down and figuring it out, along with having the skills and knowhow to fix it right! Good on ya!
And that's one good lookin little shooter!
