Girsan MC P35 Part Interchangeability

Recently I picked up a Girsan MC P35 the California version with the optic plate and loaded chamber indicator. (Which I hate btw) Anyway I was looking for another upper assembly one so that I could have one slide assembly with an optic and one with just standard irons and after getting nowhere with Girsan I found a nice parts kit that included everything but the frame. Well I can say with certainty that the Girsan is a direct copy of the MKIII Browning. I started swapping parts just to see what is a direct replacement and can happily report that everything is. Currently I am just using the complete Browning slide, barrel, guide rod, sear, sear spring, thumb safety, ejector, magazine release a C&S no bite ring hammer and some Springfield Armory wood grips and I have had no issues dropping those parts in. I may replace the trigger assembly with the browning parts just out of curiosity but i believe they will work just fine. Girsan did a good job of copying the MKIII design.

I saw that one. I just am a show me kind of guy. So I took the financial risk and bought a complete browning (minus frame of course) to experiment with and see for myself. BTW these parts kits are no longer cheap anymore. At minimum you are in it for $350-400 for a decent kit. Considering the Girsan was just $499 I paid almost as much for the parts kit as I did for the gun. But I accomplished my goal of seeing what is truly interchangeable and having a complete upper with a RMSc and one with traditional iron sights. Either way I am less than half of what I can get an actual Browning for here in my state. Those are running $1800-2k not including fees. So it is a win in my head. I will say this about the Girsan. All the parts I removed seemed to be either forged or bar stock. I know that has been claimed before but I have confirmed it for myself. These Turkish hi-powers are a great value for dollar now that the surplus FN’s, FM’s and FEG’s are pretty much all dried up.
