I agree if you are living in California where a Gen 3 may be what you are limited to, but I'd choose a Gen 5 over a Gen 3 if I had the option. Heck, I'd choose a Gen 4 over a Gen 3. The re-profiled grip on the Gen 4 and Gen 5 alone makes choosing those Gen's worthwhile.
