On a custom build will DW fully blend a magwell? Yes, I should just ask them but it’s the weekend.
Thanks,

For kicks, I went to the DW website to look at photos of their std. pistols that come with magwells installed. On the very first one I looked at, the Specialist Commander, they specifically show a photo from the underside of the magwell and it certainly looks like they just bolted it on. If you wanted a smooth blend between parts, you better request it.

This is true. But if you ever shoot one in competition, the magwell helps immensely in guiding the mag into that skinny grip. Double stacks typically don't need one due to the taper at the top of the mag. But when I decided to shoot my DW Valkyrie Commander in a competition, the first thing I did was slap a magwell on it.

Thanks for the responses. I put a magwell on all my 1911s because I have big hands and they make the guns much more shootable for me. They also speed up mag changes. I don’t carry a 1911, so concealment is not a concern. I like the S&A magwells as well, but if I ever get a semi custom seems like it should have a blended magwell just because. I know it won’t make it work any better.

I'm with you there. I ordered a Guncrafter and went with their functional blend on the magwell instead of the fully blended option. It just doesn't look right on a pistol that is otherwise amazing. Fortunately, I don't have to look at it unless I'm cleaning the gun so I can live with it. If you want it done, get it done right.
