I have 2 Browning Hi Powers. One serial number is 76C13xxx. It has a spur hammer and adjustable rear sight. The second Hi Power serial number is 72C58xxx. It has a ring hammer and fixed rear sight. Both stamped with the Morgan Utah and Montreal stamp on the left side along with Made in Belgium. Do both of these configurations come from the factory or has one been modified? Is one any more valuable than the other? Thank you.

Luv your pistols. For me, I also have two. Earlier this year, purchased a 77C in less than desireable condition, but cleaned it up, got a new hammer, sear and springs. Took it out to the range and it still fired accurately, despite having a slash/notch/cut on the rear vertical blade of the rear sight. Will replace that in the future and was not a hindrance to my accuracy. Temporarily put the Mk III grips on it also.
Got a pair of slimmer wooden grips from Turkey. It has not been modified and has several "mousetrap magazines" for faster reloading.

As always, much of any question of '..value..' comes down to relative condition. But in this instance, your '72 'C' series pistol with the '...ring..' hammer will tend to have a higher potential 'value' on the re-sale market....for no other reason than the aesthetics of the 'ring' vs. spur hammer.

It's NO accident that ALL of the new Hi Power 'clones' (TISA, SA, Girsan, FN) that have popped up since FN/Browning discontinued Hi Power production have come with OEM '..ring..' hammers.
