Tucker probably covers it. It's a little convoluted on their gun list, but they do show they cover a railed Commander length Ed Brown 1911

Hey fellas I hope my post doesn't go against decorum, since it's been a few months. This thread actually brought me back to the forum. I just added this 9mm Operator 4.25" to my group and was looking hard for a leather holster. I don't like kydex. I looked through each one of these suggestions but I finally found what may work from 1791 per pete177's suggestion. Holster should be arriving any minute. I'm literally watching out the window for the mailman like a kid at Christmas for Santa. Normally I'd make a holster when I can't find it but like a fool against every rule I have, I sold my leather stitching machine 6years back and I'm dead in the water to make gear. Hopefully this 1791 works out or I'm about to pay $3500 for a holster. Anyway, I'll report back soon as it gets here and I get it fit.

The difficulty with finding a leather holster for this specific gun is that it is a 4.25" railed 1911. Hardly anyone has that mold. I purchased the 5" fullsize railed holster optics ready BH1 model in black from 1791 so I can have something to carry this gun in. I have several other fullsize 1911s and Commander that sat in this holster just fine. It'll do for range work.

First observations is the holster is matte black, it's different. I see the benefit to a matte finish to not shine or draw the eye. The holster is firm, wet molded, stitching is nice, edges are burnished fine. I also appreciate the holster is wet molded curved to fit the body vs flat. It wears better.

Now if I can be critical about two things. First, the belt slot edges are not beveled. The sharp edges grab my belt and it is difficult to get the holster to slide into place. The way my holsters fit on me is that the belt goes in back belt slot first then through my pant belt loop then through the front belt slot. The unbeveled slot won't allow the rest of my belt to slide through easily. I'm gonna take care of that, add a bevel and burnish. The second item is there is that there is no sight channel molded on the holster. So on draw or reholster the front sight scrapes the inside of the holster. In fact after fitting the holster you can see on the outside of the holster where the front sight bulged out the leather. Perhaps that's by design given the fitting instructions on their site says to bulk up on the plastic bag around the front sight. I guess. But an easy solution is to tape a small wooden dowel onto the blue gun during wet mold, have it centered from front sight to rear sight. It creates enough of a channel for a smooth draw and reholster, without compromising retention. I may do this as well, we'll see how it goes as I continue breaking this holster in.

Wearing the holster for a few hours around the house it was comfortable. It wasn't intrusive or set the holster at any odd angle where I cracked my elbow on the hammer. Overall I'm happy with the holster.

Sparks, TT Gunleather for IWB OWB great leather. Garrett Holsters for IWB, I know he does some OWB as well. They are Leather Lined Kydex, Works well. I have picked up gently used Bitterroot Gunleather for Commander and Officer. Leather well made, Absolute Comfort. Nobody thinks much about these but they are fine holsters. 1791 Leather. You pick these up on Amazon. If you like it keep it or send it back. I have a bumb around the house OWB that works well.

Just throwing mud against the wall for ideas. If you want it now Kydex may be the Route. Decent Leather your gonna wait or pick up gently used. Out of the Pics above guess which ones are New purchases...

Just so we're clear, are all these suggestions specific to a railed Commander 4.25" length gun? Or are these suggestions aimed at "my favorite holster maker for my guns" suggestions? Cause the issue I'm finding is finding a maker that makes railed Commander length holsters, and with an optics version. That's the need - commander, railed and optics ready.
