Im looking at maybe purchasing a new 1911 - and I cannot locate one at my local dealers - the y all can "order" it but at full retail.

I found what I want on Guns.com at a real good price.. but have never used them

Anyone use Guns.com before?

Assuming fairly simple checkout - provide an FFL - pay and pickup a few days later?

I have never purchased anything from that site.

If you choose to and are still suspicious, you can often use a one time card number generated by your bank or credit card company.

That way, if there is an issue, or if it is a scam site, they will not have access to your account.

In theory.

I’m usually pretty Leary about online gun shops but with an internet search, this came up.

Have you checked out gun.deals to see if any online retailers have the gun you want. Maybe bargain with your LGS on other things they might have you may need. Ammo, mags, hunting gear, etc. I have had good success with area LGS‘s on other things if I agree to full retail on something. See if Family Firearms has the gun you want. Good luck.

Guns.com is good to go, I have bought used from them a couple of times. However it was only because the price was low enough that the added madatory (not stated up front) $16 S&H fee & $8 shipping did not make it more expensive than the other online vendors. So be aware of that. Otherwise they're a legit vendor.

Good to go. I like their resale approach; sold a pistol last year to them and it was seamless. That said, I got low balled on a couple of other offers I made, but that’s expected (market dependent).

They are fine . In 03/2021 I bought a .45ACP SPRINGFIELD ARMORY Range Officer Compact from them. Transaction when smoothly arrived at my local gun shop within 3 miles of our house which luckily was on their list of FFL dealers . I had this pistol in 9 mm and I loved it and wanted one in 45 when SA suddenly stop making them .It came brand new from a gun shop in West Virginia and was everything they said it was . . Brand New In the box with all accessories.
I would order from them again.

They are good to go. I have bought 5 used guns from them in the past 2 years. One was exactly as advertised/expected, the other four were better than expected. All shipped very quickly.

Have you checked out gun.deals to see if any online retailers have the gun you want.
This is what I use, just enter the UPC or make/model of the firearm you want to purchase and the search engine will give you a list of results with prices. You can save a lot of money by going that route. 1911 Deals | gun.deals

Excellent site! I have purchased 3 pistols this year from them.No issues.Heck I ordered my most recent one afternoon, the shop I had them ship it to had it the Next day.I have come out cheaper than buying what I wanted thru them even after tax shpg ffl fee really over a store.

Bought (stole) a couple guns from them with no issues, even sold an Ed Brown to them.
Sometimes I wonder if they even know what they have, lots of overpriced listings but here are a few gems to be had.

I bought a "new" handgun and waited about a week to receive it. It came in and was heavily used, to the point where I wouldn't want to fire it.

  • There was rust in the barrel
  • a heavy yellow ring around the firing pin
  • the iron sight screws were stripped
  • the follower in the magazines were all discolored.

I can't believe I was ripped off so bad. They said they'd refund me.. but I'd have to pay for the shipping and I wouldn't get reimbursed for the transfer fee.. yikes

^^^^^^ I'm going to disagree on guns not being a Good option. I have purchased at least 2 savage 1911s and ronin with zero problems.Prices were very good.As long as they have said pistol that can't be found local, and after the tax, ffl, shpg is cheaper or even roll with it.The later in the year it gets ( oct- dec) inventory gets short in alot of walk in stores
