Ivory has been on my list of grip material for some time and I finally broke down and bought a set off Gunbroker for my SA Mil-Spec.
I've been very pleased with them so far. They are smooth, but not slick. The set I have has some light brown striations down them and they look really good (to me, anyway).
I've been searching for a set now for my Kimber Compact but so far nothing at a price I'm willing to pay.

After reading about soaking them in mineral oil a couple times a year to keep them from drying out, I have no qualms about them being on my primary carry gun. If they break... oh, well. It's just money, I guess. In the meantime I love the looks of my gun with them and that's worth some cost to me.
