I just got a Kimber Micro 9 (3700636) and took it to the range today. After the first magazine, I had nothing but non-stop FTFs and FTEs. Sometimes every other round. Sometimes every round. I ran 50 rounds of Federal 115gr FMJ through it and 50 rounds of Remington 115gr JHP. That's about 15 magazines, and I only made it through three magazines without a failure. Every other magazine had multiple failures. The Federal seemed to FTF more often. The Remington seemed to FTE more often. It took me 45 minutes just to get through 100 rounds because it was failing so much.
In other words, this gun is useless. I'd be better off throwing it at someone than trying to pull the trigger.
Has anyone seen anything like this? Did I just get a lemon? Should I just return this to Kimber and tell them to send me a different one?
I'm pretty shocked because it's a Kimber, which I expected to be a quality gun, but more so because I've never fired *any* gun that was this unreliable. Even the cheapest 9's I've ever owned weren't anywhere remotely close to this bad.
Two things to note: First, I cleaned and lubed the gun before going to the range. Second, the mag fell out a few times while shooting it. I believe this is because I have big hands and the mag release happens to be where my finger rests, so I was trying to consciously avoid it, but I don't know if maybe that problem was related in some way to the failures.
