How do you guys like the liberty safes? I had a Browning prior to this and the liberty seems to be well made, I don't like that there is no key back up to the electric key pad. I have one Golden rod and I added a Led strip light that is motion sensitive.

In their category of residential security containers they are as good as any. When I got both of mine I was also worried about that electronic key pad. One was actually damaged in shipping, but still worked. I called liberty with that concern and a few others, and the very next day I had a package with everything we discussed. Here it is several years later and I have not had a single issue with the keypads. Their customer service is top notch.

I have a Liberty, got a dial lock on it. Worked at a store that sold gun safes, electronic locks went bonkers pretty often (lot of people messing with them). I'm not a fan of electronics anyway, I usually expect trouble and get it. Got a Honda CR-V, tail gate lock won't unlock when it's cold, any time it's below 40F. Good old mechanical stuff works unless it broken.

Liberty looks nice, but use very thin steel, in all but their top models. Their “National Security” line uses thicker steel. On the vast majority of RSC, the steel is the only thing keeping stuff secure. Liberty just doesn’t offer much bang-for-buck. Superior Safes come in much less expensive and with thicker steel. For a “real” safe, Brown Safe, Hollon, and a few others make nice TL-15/TL-30 gun safes. In the safe world, the best bang-for-buck is to buy a used TL-15 or TL-30. It will not be as pretty (will likely be ugly) and will be much worse to move (very heavy), but your stuff will actually be secure.

One of my safes is an old AMSEC. It’s only 11 gauge sides and a quart inch plate door. This is the minimum I consider worth having to put stuff in. I have some very nice tools. My AMSEC would only add a few minutes to a bad guy’s time on target, even if he grabbed the incorrect tools and went after it. I also have a very old safe I keep some ammunition in. Personally, I like plate doors over the formed thin doors. Formed doors under plate is even better.

I'm satisfied with the Liberty Safe I've owned for quite a few years and I'm aware of the limitations inherent in virtually every "gun safe" sold.

It keeps the youngsters who visit my home from getting their hands on my firearms and I believe it will deter most thieves who might break in.

There's two types of security gun safes confer; emotional security, and the actual level of security it has provided in the event it's ever attacked which I hope to never find out.

The Secure It 52 looks like a knock down sheet metal locker. It holds very few guns. It costs $649.
My Liberty cost about the same, maybe $699, at Cabelas on sale. It is the next to biggest with bar locks that Cabelas sells. I got it right before they started stocking only e-locks (dial for the win).

Is the Liberty a Amsec BFII, or a real TL safe? No, but it keeps kids and methheads out.

And until I can afford a TL/TR30x6, I can put a few hundred bucks towards a monitored alarm, which is more likely to be useful in stopping dirtbags.

I have heard good things about liberty safes. However I went with Stack On safes, three in total. The first one is small and up stairs in the bedroom. I keep some handguns in there. It has a keypad and key back up. The others are in the basement and are for long guns. One has a dial and has never failed. The other has a key pad with key back back. I always figure they are good enough to keep neighbor kids and wandering crackheads out of my stuff. Just another option.

I have three Stack on Safes. Not their sheet metal cabinets. I think they will protect my stuff, but nobody has tried to break into them. Almost all safes that the average gun owner buys is good enough to keep neighborhood kids and passing crack heads out. I personally don't care for electronic locks with out a key back up.
