Really interesting to see. I was always under the misimpression that a carry comp involved cutting down the slide.
Most carry comps are built on Commander or Officer slides with a 3/4" single chamber comp to bring it to standard length or commander length.

I've actually been wanting to do a carry comp with an officer slide on a double stack frame.

oo, and that should be fun!

Wow. I hope this thread continues on as strongly as it started out. I just don't know what I'm going to do with myself. This is like a combination of pornography and mechanical Einstein.

"Neat! Is that a gage pin or some fixturing in the top pistol with the Chin housing?"
No. I use a couple of gage pins to prevent any possible frame distortion as I remachine
the feed ramp.

And a welded Norc! You buy a TIG? Interesting.....
No. The welding was done by Jim Milks of Innovative Custom Weaponry.

Ok, work over the past few days.

Welded up frame rails.

Machining to fit the slide.

Oversized firing pin stop was fit to max dimensions for this slide.
There was still a .005" gap with the extractors.

.005" won't affect function, but it will mess up alignment of a rear of slide texture.

Silver-solder is not meant to be a filler, nor is it suitable for a wear area.
But it's just fine for building up the bottom of the extractor slot.

Enlarging the ejector slot in the slide to enhance reliability.

Machining a custom, oversized ejector to fit the altered slide channel.

Selecting the 'right' beavertail.

Sticking on the Chen magwell. The magwell was shortened by .050" to .250" tall.
The original was .300" tall.

I trued up the mainspring housing and frame for some wraparound
golfballing.
