Does anybody have any experience with these new Italian made Charles Daly 1911s? Any reviews online? I can’t find any.

Charles Daly

“Charles Daly” is now a Chiappa(sp?) company: the Italian company known for reproductions and clones; but also buying up the innovative Mateba revolver design for their simpler “Rhino”.

In the day, “Charles Daly” seemed to be the poor man’s T.A.L.O. C.D. would have firearms made to certain specs, with C.D. logos and market them. This is the same business model as Brownells’s used to great effect. No great authority on C.D. me: just going on decades of seeing their ads in “Shotgun News”.

The last iteration of the Charles Daly name went down the tubes when an apparent agreement to source a single stack 1911 from Bul went down the tubes when Bul sold the gun to Magnum Research.

Daly spent some time and effort polling forums for what they wanted in a 1911 and came up with a model that looked pretty good. They had Bul build this gun, but at the last minute, for whatever reason, Bul took the gun to Magnum Research.

No doubt there were other problems with Charles Daly at the time, but the loss of that 1911 was the straw that broke the camels back.

Well, at least it has vertical slide serrations, no FPS, and decent looking fit/finish for the price. I'll be the first to agree that the markings look like ass, but for a knock-around milspec (or perhaps base gun?) this might have enough promise to give Tisas a run for their money. IF they managed to avoid screwing up the heat treatment. Because, you know.....Italians and all....🙄
