Pocket gun as your daily carry?

I am curious if anyone else uses a pocket gun as their daily carry? I will preface by saying I carried at my job for years. Started with a 1911 in 45acp. Then changed to high capacity 9mm which with my spare mags meant I had 46 rounds ready to go. Now, I live a quiet life in the country. Unless I am making a trip to a high risk area, my daily carry is a Springfield 911 in 380acp. I use the extended mags which have a 7 round capacity + one spare mag. It fits easily in the pocket of my bluejeans and is super comfortable to carry all day. I have more potent handguns but they are all heavier, bulkier and the little 911 shoots really nice for such a tiny gun. I just decided several years ago that i would get something that was comfortable enough to carry all day every day. For me, the little 911 fits the bill. Am I the only one that downsized their carry weapon? I'm new here and curious what others opt for both at work and home.

How'd you get that POS DB380 to run? I've got one, and even after doing the "fluff and buff", it's still a jam-o-matic, no matter what ammo I try with it. Worst "gun" I've ever shot. I've, unfortunately, had it for years and tried everything, but it's not gotten any better..... Would love to hear it how you got yours to run. In my experience, I'm better with a big rock to throw as a backup rather than this thing......

357
I bought a Glock in 1990, after many years or carrying a 1911 in the military police for 6 years, then a 357 wheel gun 3 years as a unformed officer, then back to a 1911 for duty carry and then in 1990 bought my first Glock that I later carried in a 4th Law enforcement job.

The point is a shot a little bit of everything. Then I got old and retired. If walking in the woods where they might be a bear, I have a 10mm 1911.

In the woods with no bears but maybe bad people, a Glock 23 or 19.

If just running to the store or Walmart, a Glock 43 in the pocket, or KelTec Pf9, the smallest made, 12.7 ounces.

when you get jumped. Same with thep Keltec . Kicks a lot, just learn to hold it very tight. Both of those disappear into a pocket. When I go more distance, I always have a big pistol in the truck. I can shoot my way back to it if I need to.

Self defense is very short term combat, it not range practice a shooting hobby. Learn to shoot whatever fits your wardrobe

If one man can do it another man can also...

Define a pocket gun. I can fit my SIG P365 in my pockets, but then again I'm not a very fashionable dude and wear baggy, loose-fitting jeans. That's the advantage of being a bachelor... I don't have to care about how I look. Back when I was first married my ex kept trying to dress me like a Ken doll, making it impossible to wear something that would allow me to conceal a firearm.

My part-time job is not gun friendly, so I pocket carry at work. I find myself pocket carrying more all the time. My pocket carry choice is a Sig P365-380 with the Wilson Combat grip. I have tried many pocket guns over the years, and this is the one I shoot best. Without really working at it, I can get center mass hits at 10 yards shooting quickly. I find it easy to draw from relaxed fit jeans pockets. I like the fact that I can be standing there with my hand on it in my pocket without alerting anyone. I'm at the age when sneaky works a lot better than quick draw.

My usual daily carry is either a 1911 .45acp or my SIG P226. I will occasionally carry what I would consider a "pocket pistol" which is my SIG 232 in .380acp. The currently available self-defense ammunition for the .380acp makes it less of a liability. I have several Savage Model 1907 in .32acp, which I'm building some ammo to test. Regardless of caliber, shot placement is key.

Grumpy

Or for those that say go big or stay at home. I have my Ruger Snubbie. 😆

For pocket carry, 32acp, in my view, should get a lot more attention. Light weight, soft recoil and low noise level. For example, the pictured 1907 Savage is a great little pistol that featured a reliable double stack magazine, "10 shots quick." Spare mags are pricey but pistol worked in 1907 and still works today.

The important thing is to be aware of your capabilities, and don't tangle with a foe who has the drop on you or is beyond your effective range. I've practiced drawing from the pocket quite often and I'm only a fraction of a second slower than from the hip... assuming I'm standing up. But if seated or bent over there's no way to get to it. However I have too much of a beer gut to carry appendix and behind-the-hip has its own set of problems. Everybody has to go with the setup that works best for them... just practice with your chosen carry method and like I said, be aware of your limitations.

While I don't pocket carry often, when I do the Kimber Micro 9 does the job. I hide it in the left inside pocket of my Carhardtt jacket in the colder months. Nobody knows I have it. It is fairly accurate. And I feel it would do the job loaded with XTP's. It is also handy around the house slipped into the back pocket of my jeans.
Normally it's a commander size in 45 ACP or the CZ75.

Thanks everyone who shared your carry choice. Looks like I am not the only one going with pocket pistols after all. You guys have some nice gear btw. I guess the prize for smallest pocket gun goes to that little seacamp. Ive seen them but never shot one. I assume it must be pretty snappy with such a tiny frame. Here is a pic of the 911 in .380 for those that haven't seen them. Knife is a mini griptilian for size reference and to show just how compact the 911s are.

I'm not a fan of RIA, but I ran out of patience looking for the BlackLabel.
It required too much ammo and failures before this 380 was ready, but this BabyRock is easy to carry and good at 75'.
I also carry the Baby Rock and love it. I probably spent 10-15 hours tuning and doing reliability fixes, but well worth it in my opinion. Looks and acts just like a full size .45 but in a baby package.

I don't have a lot of reason to carry in my pocket where I live. However, where I used to live I pocket carried at times. I love my Seecamp in my Kramer pocket holster. That would be my top choice although I can carry a lot of different models in my pockets usually. Perfect would probably be the Seecamp in .380, but I don't own one.
