I realize that this has been beaten to death...............
I was researching polishing a feed ramp and I suspect there may be a lot of mis information and beliefs on various forums and the inter web in general? What I mean by this is that if you use emory cloth, sand paper or any other abrasive material, YES, you will remove metal and in the case of an anodized aluminum frame, you most likely will remove the anodizing.
I purchased some Flitz and it states on the label that is safe for anodized aluminum, so I fail to see the claims and statements that Fliz with remove metal, reshape the feed ramp angle and remove the anodizing? This is polishing, not grinding, filing, or any metal removal....I also saw that there are other polishes and waxes that accomplish the same thing; polish, not the removal of any metal.
Am I missing something here? Or am I the only one that believes that polishing is just that; polishing? It seems most people think that polishing is removal of metal, stripping of anodizing on aluminum, ultimately leads to the wildling away of metal? Of course we are referring to Flitz and other polishes', and not using sandpaper, grinding wheels, emory cloth, stones or anything else but polish!
Please let me understand your positions???
