First time shooting this.
Put about 85 rounds though it. I had several malfunctions. FTF mostly, Fail to go to battery a few times. mec gar mags worked best (I had arms core mags and factory mags). The last 3 mags had no issue. Two of those were mecgar one was the factory mag. accuracy seemed good. I'm just really bad at shootimg but the rounds landed in the same spot consistently.
May at most 2inch?

I don't know if break in will correct the malfunctions. It is cycling more smoothly. I ordered a file to tune the extractor as the sicky directs so maybe that is it.
Oh an the aluminum kicks hard lol I think with practice it will be manageable or I am deceiving myself we shall see.

Below are my initial notes as I was shooting:
Tisas .45
Heavy recoil.
Factory mag 2 malfunctions. Fixed once I hit the bottom of the mag.
Arms core 3 malfunctions. Needed to tap and rack.
Mec gar no issue.
Aiming: sight must cover the target to hit correctly.
Delores (my other RIA 1911) ran the tisas factory mag. Tisas failure to feed. (5yds)
Mec gar doing better but failed to go all the way into battery twice. Had to tap the mag to get it to work.

Ran hollow points. 2 malfunctions. Failed to lock back. Left a round in chamber but it did not fire (guess was not in battery).
Ran last factory mag no issue.

Not the range trip you were hoping for, for sure. Break in may have helped. My Stakeout was a little glitchy with the first mag (factory mag) but was fine after that.

I do not notice a huge difference in recoil between my alloy frame 4.25" and steel 5" 45s. I wonder if the factory recoil spring is a little weak. My Stakeout is getting a pin and spring swap pretty soon.

Well I kind of expected some kind of malfunction till I have shot it more plus my only experience with a 1911 was with my RIA and it had similar issues till I had work on it( don't remember what arms core did they calld it accurising). I am hoping it just needs more range time.
And the recoil may be also my perception as I has been a very long time sense I have been shooting so to be fair I'm getting back on the horse you could say.

What you are describing is typically extractor related. Read through Steve in Allentown’s sticky carefully before you tweak or adjust anything. Most of the times, after getting my extractors set up properly, the apparent magazine preferences tend to disappear. I’ve got an assortment of 1911 mags, and they all work—I won’t keep mags that don’t work!

Tune the extractor. Makes a world of difference and will be less tension sensitive. Defective is a big aspect of that feeding character.
