I kinda like the "before" better, but can understand why you wanted a change.

The before was starting to rust from being raw steel

 

They skipped a couple of pieces. Or did you want contrasting controls?

 

I wanted contrast to go along with the sights

 

The protection from salt spray is outstanding. Either your weapon is exposed to a lot of salt spray, or you live somewhere where sweating is common.

Are you happy with the cost and turn around time? Any function issues? Very curious about the finish.

 

The cost is comparable to other finishes. It functions perfectly. I put about 250 rounds through it when I got it back without a hiccup. The first thing that Wright Armory does is check clearances.

Back in the day I had Robar do several pieces with NP3 - it was awesome. Nothing stuck to it-carbon crud, oil, etc nothing, cleanup could be done with a paper towel. Zero corrosion henceforth.

 

This stuff does the same thing

 

I'm glad you tried it and like it. I promoted it here early on as an alternative to NP3 because I believe in Wright's smiths after some work that they helped me with.

I think the "+" finishes will naturally be a little thicker and darker...even with Robar. Yours looks good to me

 

Didn’t see it on the graph, but how does that stack up against the DLC coatings? Physical Vapor Deposition (diamond like carbon).

 

I think the graph only shows finishes which penetrate into the pores of the substrate. DLC is a topical coating like powdercoat

 

Huh? NT7 is plating, as are several of the other finishes in that graph. It has been a long time since I heard of a gun made out of a porous material.

 

I apologize, I read the statements wrong. Speaking at the molecular level of the substrate. Im reading about levels of thickness externally compared to the percentage that penetrates into the substrate which creates the bond.

That turned out really well. If it is your EDC—be interesting to see how the new treatment wears over time. Great looking gun.

 

This is my VP9 with Robar's NP3 before they closed up shop. It's my EDC winter gun every year. The Glock 32 slide/barrel is done in CCR's CPII which is nickel-boron. NP3 is slicker. The 32 was my EDC for years before I finally retired 357 in 2021. Both finishes still look new. Guns are easy to clean.
