Lose the TI firing pin and put in a steel one as soon as you have the chance.

I have reamed Springfield slides to accept standard sized firing pins. By standard I mean the original spec. That is an option for you depending on what you are able to find locally. You can also turn down a firing pin to fit a smaller hole.
