I've been a member of this forum since 2015, but this is my first post. I know, this is a broad range of pistols, but hear me out. I'm after a tight fitting, well running, accurate 45. My 21 year old son bought a SA Mil-Spec a few weeks ago, and after shooting it, I decided I need a 1911. I have a C4 spinal cord injury and my hands have decreased dexterity. I was pleasantly surprised I was able to rack the slide and load the magazines quite well on his Mil-Spec. I had to switch to a Ruger LCRx and then to a S&W Shield 9MM EZ for CCW because I had difficulty racking the slide on my other polymer carry pistols. This 1911 will not be my CCW pistol. Anyway, I do not want front serrations or a rail, and I want a blued or black finish.
The Tisas Stakeout in Tenifer (not the cerakote version): About $405 out the door. Hey, if the fit and finish is good, then I'm definitely interested. I just don't like the sights. I want sights like on the Night Stalker or Duty Enhanced, but I'd be fine with the ones on the Carry or Duty. My plan would be to send the slide to Novak to have correct dovetails cut in and sights installed. I've read that the Novak rear extends past the slide slightly. Is this because the dovetail is cut too far to the rear? I'm not sure I'd be okay with the rear sight hanging off the rear of the slide.
The Springfield Armory Garrison: About $800 out the door. This pistol already has sights that I'd be fine with for the time being. I'd eventually want to send the slide to Novak for the sights treatment.
The Standard Manufacturing Standard Blue: About $1,150 out the door. I've read the finish is beautiful and this pistol is fit well. I'm not sure if it's worth $350 more than the Garrison though. I've read a few things about the grip screws being loc-tited. What's up with that?
Well, what do you think? I'm already familiar with the 1911 platform, and used to shoot and disassemble my dad's 1911 when I was 12 to 19 years old. Thank you for any opinions and feedback.
