Wanna spiff up a 1911 a little. Who would you look at? Thanks. Preferably parts that don't have to go to the shop to be fitted.
For "1811's" you'll need some of these!!...As far as “high end parts” there are some shops like Wilson Combat that make or carry parts and kits for 1811’s....
Thanks for catching that… guess I need to check my typing after (before) posting! For "1811's" you'll need some of these!!

....for instance...?..........found some parts that I needed and was high end made at 50% less than the other places that sell and handle the same parts
For now, I'm looking for blued steel MSH. Harrison was the one I was forgetting. My Colt has plastic MSH. And I think EGW also has it - flat, serrated, blued. Can't go wrong with either supplierWhat exactly are you looking for? Some things may drop in or need very little work, others are almost guaranteed not to. Harrison,EGW,Brown and Wilson all make good stuff.
High end parts need to be fitted.
If I need a 1911 part and EGW makes that part, it's EGW.
I think he means if you can just slap all the parts together and guarantee no fitting will be required that might mean, it's not a high end part. If you want the parts to be perfectly mated together, it's best to buy something slightly oversized and fit it. Custom high end 1911's cost $$$$ because the labor that puts then together costs $$$$.I don't understand.
He does but last time I was at his site I don't recall any serated housings or it was very selective what you could get. I was wrong once before though. As I recall, Ed Brown has a wide variety of mainspring housings.
Ok, now I see what he means. Our options for gunsmiths, in my area, are crappy. The closest guy won't even answer his phone to tell you what hours he'll be in his shop. Otherwise it's an hour ride each way for other guys. And then another round trip to pick up your gunI think he means if you can just slap all the parts together and guarantee no fitting will be required that might mean, it's not a high end part.
