I dissembled my Tisas 1911 pistol to replace the hammer and grip safety also replaced the sear as suggested with the new hammer. Disassembly and re assembly went smoothly up to the point of installing the thumb safety (non ambidextrous). The pin (strut?) will not advance into the frame. I tried placing the old grip safety in the gun with the sane results. the holes of both grip safeties line up. I am completely lost as to what to do? Any help you folks can provide would be GREATLY appreciated!

When you replace the hammer and/or sear, you will usually have to refit or replace the thumb safety.
If the safety can be refit by removing material, you are ahead of the game.

The hammer is cut to a different spec than the original or the sear is adding to the aggrevation binding the grip safety from seating in. All you can do is marker up everything to find the bind and go from there.

Could be -
Holes not right. Cocked in frame or in safety. Seen that before.
Hammer not cocked so safety will seat. I think that's been covered fully.
Shaft of thumb safety not quite square. Do not attempt to bend it, it will break.

Notes on grip safeties: When fitting take off less metal than you think you want to. It'll surprise ya. If you take off just a smidge too much, you can upset the safety and not throw away the part. But only if its a smidge. More than that, call it safe and get a new part. Or...
EGW makes short, standard, and long hard sears, which will put things in different places when tried. You might sub in one of those when fitting a thumb safety.

I know, those aren't part of the OPs question, but just thought I'd add em.
