I just ordered a Tisas 1911 A1 Govt UPC 723551446751 yesterday from PSA for $299.99. I see a lot of conflicting info about whether this model is parkerized or ceracoat. At the price I'll be happy either way but I'm hoping it's parkerized. I'd like to hear from others who have them what finish is on yours.

According to this, it should be Cerakote (note the UPC is the same)... but sometimes Tisas hasn't been consistent:

I've had both Cerakoted and Parkerized Tisas 1911s and have found that the Cerakote finish overall seems to hold up at least as well as Parkerizing and typically looks a little better to my eye. The slide-to-frame fit might need a little more break-in with Cerakote, but nothing obnoxious. I read somewhere that the Cerakoted pistols are actually Cerakote over Parkerizing (cosmetically-challenged Park perhaps?)

Good call getting the one with the lowered ejection port, especially if you reload. The standard ejection port mangles the case mouth upon ejection. The wide hammer spur is also nice when you have to manipulate the hammer.

Yep,the wide hammer spur and the lower ejection port plus PSA putting them on sale for$299.99 is what got me to buy it. I'd been looking hard at the United States Property marked one but wasn't real sure I wanted the style ejector port it had. Most of my ammo is reloaded by me.

Parkerizing was actually used as a primer on many painted steel parts in the early days of American auto and motorcycle manufacturing. Colony still Parkerizes many of their reproduction Harley & Indian parts.

I've had a few pistols Parkerized before having a teflon coating applied. No doubt it would work well on Cera, or powder-coating.

I bought the 1911A1 US Army , the slide is only stamped Model 1911A1 it doesn't look gray or green , more like a Satan black. It's a pleasure to shoot , I like it better then my Colt Govt. 70 series MkIV in nickel in every way. The Tisas fit is better and believe it or not it's more accurate , Tisas did something right and at $299.99 the big manufacturers should be concerned, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Tisas

Seems like Tisas may be a bit inconsistent with their finish. Mine had a rather shiny finish like paint/cerakote. I currently have it wiped down with oil and going to see if it soaks in like parkerizing or just stays on top of the finish. If it's parkerized it's a awful smooth shiny finish. Before I bought I researched online about the Tisas 1911A1 Govt. UPC # 723551446751 and some places were saying parkerized some were saying H210 cerakote. Either there's a lot of confusion or Tisas is putting out different batches that that don't necessarily have the same finish.

I believe that this is the parkerized model if that is what you are after.

You want this one: Tisas 1911 A1 "ASF" U.S. Army 45

Just make sure the SKU number matches SKU: 10100539

There have been a few different "Government" runs in the last few/several years, all with varying small differences. Unfortunately, Tisas has used the term "Parkerized" in the past to describe the shade of Cerakote. This means that the term "Government" doesn't mean much at all when it comes to Tisas.

Doing a search on finishes on Tisas' website, there are only four models currently listed as having an actual manganese phosphate (Parkerized) finish:

1911 A1 "ASF" U.S. Army 45 SKU: 10100539 | UPC: 723551444191

1911 A1 "ASF" U.S. Army 9 SKU: 10100540 | UPC: 723551444207

1911 Tank Commander 45 SKU: 10100114 | UPC: 723551440537

1911 Tank Commander 9 SKU: 10100116 | UPC: 723551440544

IIRC, the Tank Commanders were the first pistols to be offered in true Parkerizing. There was a small run of very, very early (maybe the initial run) "A.S.F." (Armed Services Family) pistols that had the wrong font or font size for the US government property markings. Tisas discovered that error, Cerakoted those pistols, and sold the lot; I believe they all went to the Fin Feather Fur chain in Ohio and were sold at a discount. Otherwise, all the "A.S.F." pistols have actual Parkerizing.

I'm not sure about Tisas changing the SKUs over time, but I am confident that the UPC within a model changed when something like the finish changed. Pay attention to the UPC. Anything else is going to be a crapshoot and most likely Parkerizing-shaded Cerakote.

Yeah, I remember that. I got the impression that the USMC-marked ones were slow sellers, though... which is a little odd because Marines will buy pretty much anything marked "USMC". 😍
It probably didn't help that there never were any government 1911s/1911A1s that were actually USMC property-marked. If I had to guess, I'd suppose that Tisas/SDS took the cue and shelved the idea for Navy and Air Force markings.
