Tisas Walnut Grips

Does Tisas stain and apply a finish to their grips? I am happy with my Stakeout grips but my Tank Commander grips look like they have a stain+varnish applied that gave the grain a muddy appearance. Anyone strip their Tisas grips and re-finish?

I can live with the Tank Commander's grips, but Tisas was nice enough to provide a spare pair of plastic ones to use during refinish :)

Grips do look like the fininsh was applied heavy but not wiped off. I would take a clean toothbrush to it to see if you can’t polish the excessive finish look off. Maybe the smallest bit of solvent, especially on the diamonds. FWIW, a good dark walnut grip set is appealing.
