Hello folks,
I have gotten differing opinions on the background of behind this 1915 Springfield 1911 (Photos attached and more photos in additional posts below). Can any of you guys tell me more about it? It's serial number is 113852 and it was shipped from Springfield, MA, on June 5th, 1915.
I've been told that it is potentially a capture gun or foreign contract that has been scrubbed and reblued, but I'm not sure if I believe this.
Other "armchair" experts have told me that the barrel is from a Konnesburg Colt, and that the dark blueing of the parts as well as numerous five-pointed stars on all components (1938 Tula star) is indicative of a Russian reblue.
I'm just somewhat lost and I'm sure none of the above stories are correct, but it would be interesting to hear your thoughts.
The five-pointed star marks are very difficult to photograph, but I'm having a professional photographer capture them this afternoon and I will post them accordingly.
