After the usual workup. I have come up with a round that I think will do just about anything that you can do with a .45 Colt round. I am loading a Hornady 300 grain FTX on top of 20.5 grains of Winchester 296 powder. This is for my new production Winchester model 1892 Miroku carbine. I actually went up to 21.0 grains of 296 for this load with no signs of overpressure. But my accuracy improved when I dropped the load back a half a grain. I am guessing that this round will likely blow a fist sized hole through a brick wall if I need it to.

Any thoughts?

Gerk, you are correct as usual.

Have you got the correct grain weight posted for this FTX bullet?

I can find no Hornady listing of a 300 grain 45 caliber FTX bullet
(The only FTX 300 grainer Hornady list is for the 500 S&W Mag)
Is it possible you meant the 200 grain FTX?

Or, is this possibly a 300 grain XTP or XTP-MAG bullet?
The charge weight "range" makes sense for the 300 grain XTP

Good Luck :)
I have actually been using the XTP 300 grain bullet, not the FTX. I go back and fourth between them. Thanks for the knock on the noggin so to speak. I have been getting excellent performance as well as accuracy from this round.

I am using new Starline cases also.

As well as Winchester large pistol primers. I am pretty happy with the performance that I am getting.
