Hi guys, I'm hoping someone might be able to steer me in the right direction here. I'm relatively new to the world of Colt 1911's and my knowledge is somewhat limited.
In the 4 years of being into 1911's, I own an o1918 WWI repro, a Series 70 repro, and my most recent purchase, one of the O1991 rebate specials. Now I'm onto buying my next Colt.
What I'm most interested in is a 1950's era Colt 1911. I would like one in 95% or better condition. What can a guy expect to pay for something with or without a box and unmodified?
I would start searching gun broker but I'm not even sure what the model numbers of these pistols are. What are they most commonly referred to? Colt government model? Commercial Model? I just need some help with terminology or proper naming and a general price range would be helpful.
Do you think I could find a LNIB 1950's blued government model for around $2k or slightly less? Am I dreaming? What's something like that really worth? Thanks again guys for the fun forum.
