Wilson true zero optic cut or the Nighthawk Custom IOS optic cut for my Wilson Combat SFT9 pistol I plan to get? The Wilson Combat optic cut system has a windage adjustable rear sight and is also compatible with the Aimpoint ACRO, where the Nighthawk Custom’s IOS optic cut system has no rear sight adjustability on their optic plates and is not currently available for the Aimpoint ACRO.. Also does anyone know which system mounts the optic the lowest on the slide ? I really like Nighthawk’s IOS system, but I also would really like to use the bombproof closed emitter Aimpoint ACRO sight, but Nighthawk would not say one way or another if they will be coming out with an adapter plate for the ACRO in the future. I think the new closed emitter Holosun EPS and EPS carry models would work with the IOS system, but IMHO they are not quite as robust or as reliable as the Aimpoint ACRO.

To add to what apipeguy has stated I would guarantee that if you have work performed on your WC by other than their gunsmiths you will void your forever warranty. Not that NH doesn't do great work a company can not make exceptions or they will rue that decision forever after.

Just another thought.

I asked for my new custom Commander to have the slide cut directly for the optic I want (a Holosun 407K). It will not need an adapter plate to mount.

That will give me the lowest possible optic.

It will lock me into that footprint for an optic, but I'm okay with that. There are plenty of options with that footprint, and I expect there will continue to be in the future. I'd rather have the best possible setup now, than a less-good setup just for the sake of possibly wanting to mount something with a different footprint in the future (which, realistically, is pretty darn unlikely).

That said, I am already considering swapping to the Holosun EPS Carry. That is the same footprint. It was not even announced at the time I commissioned this pistol. But, once I actually have the pistol and an EPS on it, I doubt I will ever change it again (unless the EPS breaks).

Last point: I really do not care for the way Wilson is doing their optic cuts. The RMR footprint is too wide for a 1911 slide. Thus, their optic setup uses an adapter plate that looks like an aircraft carrier sitting on top of the slide. I don't like the look and I don't like things protruding that like, that could potentially snag on something.

The Holosun K series footprint is small enough for a 1911 slide. The resulting optic is not as big as I'd really like, but I'm willing to accept that compromise, in order to have an optic that is suitably low profile, height-wise, and snag-free, width-wise.

NHC cannot do their IOS cut on the Wilson X9 series because of how that slide is manufactured (as you know, it’s not a standard 1911). At least at this point.

So that may help your decision.

It’s my understanding that NH will do their IOS cut on the SFT9, they might even have one there getting it done now. My concern would be voiding the warranty if that’s a concern for you. I think the NH IOS system is a better option if you want to go between irons and the dot. I also think there are better options size wise than the Acro for a 1911 slide. Of course I’m not a big dot person yet so my experience is limited.

I don’t understand the utility of going between dot and irons. I think the NHC system is neat, but that particular call-out has always mystified me.
What are y'all worried about warranty-wise, anyway? If the pistol is broken in and works, what do you think is possible to go wrong that you'd expect a warranty to cover?

And, let's say the extractor or ejector broke. Are you really suggesting that Wilson wouldn't cover that, just because you had the slide milled for an optic by someone else? I am stipulating that you got it done by someone who did a normal, professional job - which would obviously not affect the ejector or extractor.

If Wilson is the kind of company that would deny a warranty claim like that, I wouldn't want to buy a Wilson in the first place. But, I kinda doubt they are like that.
Wilson may not be that company today, but could they be in the future? What about different cuts and the impact on slide mass or possible m protrusion/intrusion into various parts of the slide that could contribute to some kind of failure?

I've been searching since they were announced in June of last year. Everyday I pop onto Aimpoint's site to see if it is available. Last week when I popped on instead of seeing "Notify me when available" there was an "Add to cart" button. I mashed that button as fast as I could. Tracking shows it arriving on Monday! I'll put it on my New SFX9. Still checking everyday to find one to replace my P1 on my EDCX9.
