Happy Sunday Gunday Everyone!!!!

This might sound dumb, ridiculous, redundant etc.... so I applogize in advance.....

When using a product like Ballistol or G-96 (G-96 in this particular instance)... Is it.....

1. Necessary or reccomended to lubricate the pistol after using G-96????
2. Will it cause issues if I do lubricate it??
3. Does G-96 offer any products that will work with it.....

thank you

1. G96 (well at least the CLP product) and Ballistol are CLP's, they Clean, Lubricate, and Protect. You can just use the one product, either G96 or Ballistol for all three uses. Are they the best at any one thing? Probably not. Are they good enough for the job required. Probably.

2. You can add other lubes, usually. I'm sure there is some lube that doesn't mix with one or the other. I don't do that, because the CLP is sufficient for my lube needs and don't add another lube. Here is a "Smyth Buster" from Brownell's that may or may not be helpful.

3. G96 has a bunch of products https://g96.com/retail-products/

Unless you have something odd, like the Dan Wesson Duty Treat finish, that may be harmed by some products, like we have in thread we have going, don't make it harder than it has to be.

The more you use a CLP, the easier it becomes to clean the gun and the better lubed and protected it becomes. Like Hickok45 mentions, it ends up becoming like a cast iron fry pan. The more you use a CLP, the better it works. If you strip it all off by using something like brake cleaner, it is the equivalent of sticking your cast iron fry pan in the dish washer. Sure, you could do it, but it's a bad idea and it makes your life more difficult.

G96 Gun Treatment (aerosol spray) is exactly the same as the company's G96 Synthetic Gun Oil (liquid) so it is fine as a lube (both fall roughly in the "CLP" class as they have some solvent added) as long as you're looking for a fairly thin lube (I believe the RCMP use it or used to as it performs well in cold weather). Ballistol is really a fairly crappy thin gun lube (definitely not for a 1911 in my opinion) and better as a cleaner. G96 recently started offering a "military approved" CLP/lube which is based on the same formula as I understand it so that should mix. From my experience with it, any petroleum based gun lube such as Lucas Gun Oil will mix without any issues that I could tell.
