I have never cut a Pac grip... but I have thrown some into the trash...

They ware way to heavy and too thick.

I agree that the Hogue rubber grips ain't much for looks, but they seem to be secure & comfortable for a wide variety of hand sizes.

They're sort of a guilty pleasure. People like them but don't want to admit it in public.
I suspect that if Hogue made a grip without the finger groves (like they do for the CZ) they'd sell a LOT of them.

My new HP came with the wrap around Pachs. After reading this thread I cut off the back strap and am considering the front. On one hand I kind of like the secure feeling. On the other they are a little bulky. There seems to be a lacking of choices when it comes to HP grips compared to 1911. I am considering the VZs or navidrex grips. I want an aggressive grip but not something that is going to chew up my mitts. I plan on doing a lot of shooting. Would like something that has that down to business look.

Does somebody have a photo of Hougues with the finger grooves cut off and mounted on a Hi Power?

That would be awkward looking because there's not really a natural place to actually cut them because of how they are with the finger grooves. Now if someone took a belt sander and reprofiled the front, that would saweeet.

One guy on Arfcom went so far as to say hogue grips were for crappy shooters, or something to that degree. Well I'm not claiming to be a great shooter, but I sure like it when my left hand doesn't slip under recoil. And on almost any gun it does, if I don't have something to hang on to better than hard plastic or wood. I put a hogue panel on my M9 on just the left side. Both made it too fat. It's already a fat gun. They're not much fatter than the standard panels, but just slightly. Enough that both of them changed the feel of the gun terribly. I can't even imagine what finger groove hogues on an M9 would feel like.

But then I got another friend that isn't all into being an internet gun commando and he says every handgun he has gets a hogue grip. No questions asked. I would think if your hands are sweaty from being amped up, the tackiness would help.

I don't like them on the 1911 though. It makes my hand feel further down than it should. The Pachmyrs are better on a 1911 for me. I have the Hogue Tamer grips on my J frame and it made the gun so much more user friendly to me than any boot grip. They're not that great on my Model 19, but better than magnas that that don't fill up the hand and the target grips don't allow a speedloader. They don't have the cut out. So.....

I'd say overall I'm a hogue commonsewer. I mean conniseiour. Connesuir? I don't know how to spell that. LOL. Conneseior. Connessuier. Dictionary.com
