Hey guys,

I only have experience online with buds gun shop,

Was wondering if guns America is any good, and whether they are legit?

Don't want to get burned.

Gunsamerica.com? It's an online auction/sale type site like gunbroker, guns being sold by either private individuals or dealers using the site to list. I am registered with it, although I haven't made any purchases through it. I've used gunbroker though, and had good experiences with my sellers.

I bought a gun through GA in December and just bought a new Wilson Combat through them two days ago. It all depends on the seller/dealer listing the gun. I checked the seller out by calling Wilson Combat and they gave the seller a rave review and confirmed that the gun was new. On used guns it may be a bit moe dependent on the seller's feedback (which I would check before you buy). As you know, GA is just the broker or conduit.

I think the more difficult issue arises when the seller is an individual - especially if he/she has no previous feedback or completed transactions.

Guns America is a classifieds site, not an auction site, unless they've changed recently to allow auctions. I bought from sellers on there in years past but haven't in a long while. They're no better or worse than buying off of Gunbroker. Just use common sense and don't buy from anyone who seems a bit shady.

GunsAmerica and GunBroker are excellent sources for guns, and are great for finding good deals (saving $$$ on used guns) and particular models that are not always found at your local gun shops/regional gunshows.
They go to great lengths to make sure all transactions are genuine and completed to the satisfaction of both parties. They also emphasize adhering to federal law when completing transactions, but still leave some discretion to the sellers and buyers.
I have sold a few guns on Guns America, no problems.
I do ALOT of buying, and some selling, on Gunbroker.com. Again, no problems, and have saved hundreds of dollars on the pistols I search out on their site.
Of course, there are no 100% guarantees... so as with anything of this nature... "buyer beware".

As usual, make sure you buy from someone with 98-100% positive feedback, and a lot of it. I don't like GunsAmerica, because the horrid layout and design makes it a bit harder to evaluate if a seller is legit.

I don't know if it is just me, but it seems like GA attracts a lot of scammers. The last few "I just got scammed" threads I've read were from GA.

I'm pretty paranoid as I'm looking to drop over $1500 on an m1a scout that I can't find anywhere except guns America

Been looking for a scout in synthetic or walnut for a month or more.

God darn panic-doomsday-buyin' idiots out there I tell ya

I've bought a number of guns on GunBroker over the last several years. Got some fantastic guns at good prices. Right up until the very last one I bought which was a 4506 that was supposedly like new and probably unfired. That information was from the ad copy of the seller. A seller with nothing but excellent feedback.

So I bid it wayyy up there and long story short I received a clapped out very worn 4506. I was pissed and the guy took it back but it cost me a hundred and some dollars when it was all over with. Cost him nothing but time of course.

I really wanted to rip that guy with negative feedback because he absolutely deserved it but here he is with hundreds of sales and me with I think seven or eight purchases. The reality was that negative feedback (which he'd give right back to me) would hurt me way more than me him. So I didn't do anything.

But the moral of this story is that good feedback doesn't guarantee you a good gun. You can believe I wasn't the first guy that got a crap gun from this seller I'll bet. Be careful if you get into a situation where you're bidding a lot of money. Not that big a deal if it's a three or four hundred dollar gun but when you get into four figures then do your homework.

I looked at the site and did see one anomaly worth checking into. Under "Classified Ad" (next to the picture of the rifle) it clearly states "No Returns". But when you click on "Additional Information" near the bottom of the page, it says, "Our 3 day inspection period with right to return guarantees our quality. "

So, which is it? No returns, or 3-day inspection period with right to return"? I'd certainly want to clear that up before forking over $1500.

The gun you listed has been a "Trusted" seller on that site since 2003, and the seller is a gun business dealer.

Call and talk to the seller.

But it definitely looks legit.

I've used GunsAmerica for a few purchases and never had any issues. They have been around a long time. But as with any online purchase, do your due diligence.

Yeah. Since 2003 and 700 or more transactions with no negatives? I wouldn't have a problem buying from the "guy". Looks like it's a brick-and-mortar store, too, which (in my mind) gives it even more legitimacy.

SW686man,

Send me a PM, I have purchased from Lewis Arms on Gunsamerica and can fill you in a bit. Not a bad transaction but I do have some advice if you want it.

I've bought off GunsAmerica and received the pistol as described.
I selected a seller with plenty of positive feedback.

I asked a seller a question about a Les Baer on GA. Never got an answer, but a few days later got a rather smart alec message from GA that said "Hope you didn't buy that gun because the seller is a scammer."
If they knew he was a scammer why was he allowed on their site? I'll stick with Gunbroker.

I always like to check out their previous sales, i.e. You are looking at the listing for a $1000 gun, the seller has 100% feedback, you dig a little deeper, and find all that great feedback is from selling keychains and bottle openers.

My friend who buys lots on GB, always asks for one more picture, often showing the serial # as it's not unheard of for guys 'selling' a gun they aren't in possession of.

YMMV

I used to be in direct sales a lifetime ago, and it was a law then that buyers of direct sales items and items bought sight unseen, ie., through the mail or online, had 72 hours (which is 3 days) to inspect and decide that they actually wanted it. To avoid "buyer's remorse" or some such thing. Within those 3 days you can return it for whatever reason you want, they have to take it back and return your money. I don't imagine things have changed, but what do I know?

I believe that the no return policy may be for new firearms not used (with the return policy allowing the seller to decided if the condition was as warranted) but I would check with Lewis Arms. I purchased from this seller and I thought I was going to want to return the gun (a slightly used Para that was misfiring) and Mr. Lewis was totally agreeable to me returing the gun (which I ended up not doing).

NIB and a FFL, looks good to me. Different situation than the one I bought from. And the 'No Return' stuff is just that he can't take back a new gun and refund your money. That's how it is with buying brand new guns anywhere as we all know.

I have made several purchases from GunsAmerica nd I have never had a problem. Be careful on payment method so if it is a problem you can recover your money.
Check others comments on the seller.
Again, I have made numerous purchases and have always been satisfied. :)
