Are your lowers marked as AR-15

The question that came to me as Creepy Joe Biden claims if he is President that he will definitely come after AR-15’s. But what if your lower is specifically marked otherwise, such as mine which is an Anderson that I used to build my rifle states it is an AM-15. Since it is clearly marked as not being an AR then it should be legal.

Also if they come to get mine all they will get from me is the stripped lower because it is the only thing on the rifle that was regulated when I built it.

What are your thoughts on this?

My thoughts?

Should this come to pass (and all of us should be working hard to keep it from happening), then markings are going to be meaningless: "If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck..."

Are you planning on complying? "May your chains set easy on you..."

This is the long and the short of it right here.

They will just broadly go after all semi autos, bet on it. :barf:

"Colt's AR15" is copyrighted, isn't it?

As I recall Colt's owns the copyright for the "AR15" moniker.

Isn't the M15 the civilian variant of the M16 non-select fire variation?

Therefore when we say "AR 15" don't we really mean "M-15" or "AR 15 style" firearm?

None of my M15 variants are marked AR15!

Unless it's a Colt!

Just sayin' :)

Some state level bans are sort of based on name, but mainly features are mentioned. The only guns in current production that are marked "AR-15" are the Colt AR-15A4 and Colt 9mm carbines. As many of you know, Colt has the rights to the name. Likewise, Armalite has the rights to the AR-10 name. They sold the rights to the AR-15 to Colt. The letters "AR" is an abbreviation for Armalite (not Armalite Rifle, since there are shotguns and handguns that bear the name too), and "15" indicates that it's the 15th product developed by the company. I'm sure "experts" can correct me and tell me it really means "Assault Rifle" that kills 15 people a minute.

The Democrats are well aware of the mistakes they made in 1994 when they tried to define assault weapons, and in the end gun makers simply skirted around the law by simply selling AR-15s without the sinister name on the side or any of the bad, evil features like folding stocks and flash hiders. The antis will no doubt learn from this and simply ban any rifle that is semi-automatic and uses a detachable magazine. Like I said here in WA they don't even have to have a detachable magazine... ANY rifle that uses power from the fired cartridge to cycle the action is an assault weapon, even a tube-fed .22LR. We're just waiting to see what the antis come up with next year... possibly a total ban on these newly-minted assault weapons including our Marlins and Ruger 10/22s.

These forced buybacks and bans only work if you allow them too.
My issue is that I like tinkering (so I'm always buying/selling) and of course, shooting. Sure I can bury a couple AR's with some ammo and whatever for EOTW, but that doesn't help me going to the range.

Likewise for my SBR's, if they actually ban stuff (rather than grandfather), can't do much!

The thing is, its hard for libs to define "Assault Weapon". Their default meaning is "military grade", which an AR15 (or clones) ain't (compared to full-auto M16). So they came up with "Assault-type weapon" which can be anything. The lib wordplay has to demonize the term, similar to how they tone down "illegal" to "undocumented". It has to inflict a violent connotation for them to gain support. Ask anyone not familiar with guns what a semi-auto means & almost everyone thinks its an assault weapon. Its a war of words & libs are winning! Berkley, CA now banned manly terms such as policeman, manhole, mailman, and any other gendered term! ***!

Or the first M15 rifle?

M15
The M15 Squad Automatic Weapon was a modified M14 developed as a replacement for the .30-06 M1918 Browning Automatic Rifle for use as a squad automatic weapon. It added a heavier barrel and stock, two pistol grips (one fixed, one folding) a hinged buttplate, a selector switch for fully automatic fire, and a bipod. The sling was from the BAR. Like the M14, it was chambered for 7.62×51mm NATO.
Firing tests showed that the M14, when equipped with the selector switch, hinged buttplate and bipod, performed as well as the M15. As a result, the M15 was dropped and the modified M14 became the squad automatic weapon. Accuracy and control problems with this variant led to the addition of a pistol grip, a folding rubber covered metal foregrip and a muzzle stabilizer. However, it was a poor suppressive fire weapon owing to 20-round magazines and it overheated rapidly.

So is the Armalite/Eagle Arms "M-15A2" an M16 Variant or not?

Do I call it an "M15" or an "AR"?

Mine is a 1996 model with carry handle and full stock and "roundish" hand guard!

Thanks,
