Has anyone fiddled with this flavor of Beretta? If so, what's your opinion?

I've never truly been partial to Beretta pistols, but this SAO model is a curious offering. Seems like it might make for a 'different' and perhaps fun addition to a game-gun lineup. A compensated 9mm, while always a humorous proposition, does carry a bit of extra weight on the nose - something which I view as a positive. And, it appears they got the safety operating in the 'correct' fashion on this one as well! It does seem a bit pricey, but, what doesn't these days?

You have to love their marketing department, though: "..... a competition pistol inspired by the precision and performance of a high-end race car...... exudes style and substance......designed to dominate the competition." !!!! Well, in that case, it's a must-have!!! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Reckon I'd have to wear this to the match in order to hopefully 'exude style' in the same way that the pistol does! ;)

Here is The Honest Outlaw with the similar 92XI Corsa. He doesn't care for the thumb safety, and didn't care for it on another 92XI he had reviewed previously. It digs into his hand.

I think the original intent of the SAO Beretta's was an attempt to tap into the LE market that Staccato was targeting with the Staccato P gun. The Beretta 92XI is a less expensive option, with readily available, and known reliable mags, that would probably be attractive to LE organizations that wanted a double stack, single action duty gun. I think Beretta learned, probably like Staccato, that isn't a very big market.

Now it looks like Beretta is just producing "fun" versions.

I have a Corsa. Nice pistol

Do you have the same issue with the safety that the video described? I suppose it all depends on hand size, but just curious.

Otherwise, it's striking me more as "Oh, what the hell, why not!" sort of pistol as opposed to a "Wow, I need to get my hands on that!" handgun. Time will tell, I suppose.

Some companies are just known for their traditional firearms. Beretta for its Model 92, Colt for its 1911, and Smith & Wesson for its revolvers. Of the three S&W seems to have had the most success with its modern plastic fantastics, but they're not about to abandon their tradition-based customers as they're still a significant percentage of their sales.
