What is the consensus on the "best" quality Bomar replacement rear sight? Champion/Kensight, Ed Brown, ??

Thanks,

Best Bomar replacement

I have used and purchased the Bo-Mar Style rear sights from STI. They use these same adjustable rear sights on their STI single stack and Limited Style guns. Because they are used by many Action Shooting competitors, they have withstood the test of time, and I have never heard of any problems with their Bo-mar style rear sights regarding their durability. I have been using their sights for over a year now without incident. The current cost shown at www.brazoscustom.com is $56.00, which seems to be a reasonable price.

The K-1 sight from Tripp Research is $118.00, which is over double compared to the STI sight. I have no standard of comparison, since I have never had or used a K-1 sight. Perhaps other contributors have more to say.

I've seen the sight Hoss has. It is the stoutest looking adjustable I have ever seen.

I did the same. But the Tripp looks like a very good piece for a guy wanting a adjustable.

I just had the STI installed on mine. Don't know if the best but it looks like it's built to last. Also, I like it because it thinner than the one from Champion which means it melted to the slide lower and doesn't require a higher front sight.

STI sight

The STI adjustable rear sight is very durable and apparently well made since I have never seen or heard of any complaints by people using them. The Eliason rear sight used by Colt on their Gold Cups was a piece of junk, and would often fail.

1911 Collector: Nice looking gun! I like the way it was machined for the "melded" cut for the sight. For $56 new, you can't beat the sight for a good value!

The Sights are made in Communist China. They are wire edm cut. There was an issue with the sight breaking out around the cross pin hole. Wire edm generates a micro crack structure and is an invitation to crack. Not sure how they cured it? may be as simple as drilling the pin hole where they may have been wired. Da Keng is a personable likable guy.

*Engineering Excellence: All components, including the frame and slide, have been redesigned and improved for reliability, accuracy, longevity, and the highest degree of cosmetics. Many unique and exclusive features such as the BobtailTM, 25 lpi checkering, Snakeskin, and Chainlink. Ed Brown has engineered and tested specific.....

Ill let Ed speak for himself.

The last Bomar person, Son I believe was struck by a car pushing his truck off the road. Not sure the current position of the estate and if we will see it again. With US MFG costs and inflation I am not shocked to see 125.00 for a sight. Bomars were machined not wired.

I believe another "tell" is the rear blade. Kings I beleive has the trademark on the not fully serrated rear blade. The Kengs serrations carry to the top.
