Of which holster do you speak?

I ordered a leather Triple K flap holster from Cabela's for a 1911-A1. I bought it as a trampsing-around-the-woods holster and its wasn't terribly expensive. Its all leather with a brass snap. Its a tight fit especially as I have Springfields with sharp front serations which makes holstering a challenge. The last half inch I really have to push. :D

Anywho, for a woods and riding holster it works great as it keeps most dirt and what-not off the pistol.

Thanks for the reply. The holster I was referring to sounds like the one you have. In the Cabela's catalog it is referred to as a "Clip Pouch Holster". It is a leather outside the belt holster with a pouch/pocket for a spare clip. The picture shows a snapped strap which goes over the firing pin when the pistol is in the cocked and locked position. Price is $45. I was looking for a holster to provide the same function you refer to which is to have a holster for woods hiking around my house (black bears are in the area).

Thanks again...looks like I might order one.

I do not have the holster you described. Mine looks like a Canadian Mounties revolver flap holster. Its dark brown leather, made by Triple K, with a big flap that completely covered the pistol and snaps down. It has white stiching. I do remember I had to really hunt around their site for it.

Its a great woods holster b/c it completely covers the pistol, I think it was in the mid-$20's, and fits a military style web belt with its loop.

I'll search their site and see if I can find it again.

FOUND IT!

VTShooter,

Its the Triple-K Flap Holster, Cabella's catalog number IC-22205 (Auto-Colt 1911 in the pull down) for $29.99. That's a great price for a solid leather holster that you can put to work in the field without worrying if it gets dirty.

Good Luck,

VTShooter,

You're correct that we're taking about two different things. Check out Cabella's and search under the catalog number IC-22205. One thing about the type of holster you're looking at, they get heavy w/ the pistol, mag, and extra mag. Triple-K makes pretty good work holsters, though, and I think you'd be happy w/ the one you posted.

Do check out the one I have as it may fit your needs better.

The fit on the Tripple K's I have were prety snug for a while till they got broke in, now the boys slide right in easy, and draw without a snag, they make for a nice hunting holster once they are broke in, and with the hammer strap tucked back around and under belt, they hold firmly yet draw quickly. With a pair of 1911's, with 8 rounds in each magazine, and two spares in their pouches...what ever comes to eat me had better bring an appitite for lead with it, cuse there will be quite abit flyin
