A comment or two on that shooting situation if I may; From what I can see, the Capitol Police function more as security guards than as actual police officers. They are used to directing compliant tourists in and around terrain officers are intimately familiar with, assisting the political elite, manning metal detectors, issuing directions to visitors to stay inside the velvet ropes, to stand here, stop there, extend your arms, etc. etc. Street cops are used to going into unfamiliar terrain every day, with people often challenging them. I sincerely doubt Capitol Police authority is often challenged by the compliant tourists they wrangle. I continue to believe that Capitol Police officer that shot the unarmed woman, simply panicked.

FWIW, until the NBC news report yesterday evening, I did not know the ethnicity of the officer involved. But I knew that in any case, the investigation into the shooting would determine it was a "good shooting", i.e., that the shooting of the unarmed woman was justified. Would the shooting investigation have have come to the same conclusion if the ethnicity of the woman and officer were reversed?

It was Murder, and nothing less than that. She was not a threat to anyone or anything, and did far less than many others who went into the building. By his logic, they should have all been killed.

 

If I have any expectation or hope of the government to respect the Constitution and leave our 2nd amendment rights alone I should have the courtesy to respect the institutions of my country.

Every person at the Capitol on Jan 6th is my enemy and should be your enemy. Nobody has taken my guns. No government official has ever asked me to surrender a firearm. No, they didn't. They went to DC to protest a stolen election. Nobody attacked Democracy - in fact, out of that huge crowd you would probably find 90% who would lay down their life for America. A small number took it to another level when they actually entered the Capital and let it go to their heads when they got in, but they really didn't do anything. This cop or whatever he was committed murder and is getting away with it. BTW, I remember seeing video posted that day of security guards actually letting protesters into the building. This is important because I don't think they actually 'broke into' the capital - those doors are pretty stout. There was some glass breakage and when the lady was shot it seems that she got pushed into a window, either breaking it or it was already shattered - that's when she was shot.
There was no 'insurrection', President Trump did not suggest that anybody do anything other than protest, and the whole story is nothing but Phase II of 'the big lie', with Phase I being 'the election was not stolen'.

Or I’m from Montana. A state that knows how to handle firearms and has sent more soldiers to war per capita than any other state. We value freedom.
