Been a while since I posted here. Greeting to my fellow 1911 fans.

Someone handed me a Colt Pocket 9 that was missing the hammer strut and spring, and asked me if I can get it to work. After inspecting the firearm it seems it's still in good working condition provided I can find the parts. Well out of luck with the hammer strut. Contacted Colt and I was directed to GunParts. If Numrich doesn't have it then it's just not available. It's not the first time I made small parts for a gun, but this time I don't have any broken parts to copy. I asked a member if they can take a picture of the hammer strut from their rare Pocket 9 on top of a dollar bill but never got a reply. After looking at parts list pics and YT vids it took me 2 tries to forge a part from tempered steel. A pic of the strut I made next to a blank rod. The spring I'm using is from a S&W 640 and it was short. I ended up making an extender/guide to make the spring work.

After a few tries grinding and polishing I got it to fit and function like it supposed to. So I need to clean up the gun and test fire it. Will update once that is done.

Awesome! I've owned three of those but people wanted the really bad and I could not turn down the rather large profit the offered me. I really liked the gun, even the heavy trigger was no problem. I did have a problem with no replacement parts of something broke so down the road the eventually went.

Test fired the Colt Pocket Nine today and it fired all rounds including reloads that have small rifle primers. I was surprised how accurate the pistol shot.
