Compromising on primers...

So due to the lack of primers availability, I bought 1000 Magnum CCI #350 primers for 36.00 at the local Ace hardware store today. Nobody has primers locally, except my local BassPro and Ace hardware store had only 1000 each of Magnum Large pistol primers.

I’ve got 4K large pistol primers on hand but from my understanding, magnums are interchangeable (w/ common sense).

I load 45 ACP w/ titegroup and Clays (light loads).

You’re good to go with CCI 350 large pistol magnum primers. I load a 185 gr Zero JHP over 4.3 gr of Titegroup using the CCI 350. It’s a nice load.

Yes, no, and maybe!

The spark or brisance is longer and maybe a little "hotter" in order to better ignite slow burning magnum powders.

Your specific load recipe will determine your results. At mid range velocities and pressures you may want to reduce the powder by .02 grains and check for pressure signs.

My specific testing 9mm and Titegroup without reducing powder increased the velocity by an average of 25 FPS!

Using Titegroup and 45 load data look at data for Winchester LPP/LPM primers. You'll be good to go!

If you did not see this coming early enough.

Then shame on you.

You can definitely use them. I would recommend working up the load again looking for pressure signs.

Also where do you live that has primers at Ace Hardware?? The thought of having gun related items at my Ace Hardware is laughable - I live in communist Massachusetts....

This!

Our local (CA) Ace had a section in the rear of the store for firearms and ammo. It was rather small and privately owned.
