Can someone tell me the difference between the Hi-Power Mark III and Standard other than the grips? I am going to be selling my Glock and the HP is one of the guns I am thinking about replacing it with. I want to start shooting in IDPA matches and the HP seems to be very popular. I have a friend who swears by his. Thanks for the help.

IIRC, it gets somwhat confusing. FN made several guns in the MK III design and feature set. All are the same internally, differing only in the finish and sights. There was the Standard, the Practical, the Chrome and then to make it totally confusing, the MK III MK III. Why they named one of the versions of the MK III the MK III I will never understand.

Browning calls their basic model with the black enamel finish the MKIII .
If memory serves me , they started using the MKIII designation at the same time they started using the cast frames . The firing pin safety was also added at this time back in the late 1980's . Basically , all their models could be considered MKIII's . As was mentioned , only the cosmetics are different . Except on the 40 S&W which is physically larger .
