I would like to install a drilled and tapped 4-40 mag release for a Rock Island Tac Ulta Double Stack 9mm to add a button to the mag release.

I purchased what I thought would work in the Dawson Precision mag release for STI/2011/Clones. Turns out it is too short in which the right side is sub flush of the frame by about an 1/8" when installed.
Obviously the STI frames with polymer grip are thinner than the Rock Tac Ultra with its metal frame and grip panels.

I tried in my milling machine to then drill and tap the Rock Island mag release but it is way too hard for the tooling I have and I'm afraid even if I got it drilled I might break the 4-40 tap. So I abandoned that idea.

I do not want to anneal the Rock mag release, wouldn't be worth it.

So, have any of you found a correct drilled and tapped 4-40 mag release for your Tac Ultras?

Thank you in advance for any help.

Thank you n3wwn.
Thank you M-Peltier, I actually found that one as well from Slade Street Tactical, and I ordered it after talking via email to them and asking what they thought of it fitting the Rock Island if ordered for the Para. He said yes all would be good.

Totally disappointed and it is actually a John Masen part, horrible machining, not to spec, burrs on threaded hole up and into serrations, button doesn't even sit down flush when screwed in being threads are not tapped deep enough. Rough casting marks and ridges all over it. Slot for locking insert is machined crooked, can't even install the locking insert and spring with out having to remachine the slot.

I had no idea it would be a John Masen part; if I did I would not have ordered it.
There is no way I will use it in the gun.

So, now we look for a quality mag release.
