EGW has done some small parts custom work for me. They are outstanding.

I ordered a barrel bushing from them on line...all standard and it's taking a very long time for them. I'm not sure if they're backed up but since everything is standard it was my understanding they would have a items on the shelf that they could just ship.

It's been a full week and a half since I ordered and it's still "in process". Not sure if this is regular processing time but it's been my slowest experience. It shouldn't take that long for standard spec barrel bushings.
Quick update on this...got a PM from George at EGW and he stated that they bore bushings about every 1.5 - 2 weeks, which probably indicates the wait time for me. I guess I placed my order just as they got done process a batch of bore bushings. Also, he stated that the SIG GSR bushing is an off the shelf item but most of their orders are one off deals.

Thank you George for the clarification and +1 for the great customer service

thanks for all of the input. I tried the search, but then again i just used EGW and didn't quite come up with anything.

I thought the company might be a little sketchy b/c they put some items on ebay(thats actually how i found them, on accident) but it looks to me that he just uses it to get his name out there.

Thanks Again. 1911Forum is very mature and knowledgeable from what i've seen so far. Glad to become a part of the community. Just bought my first pistol last week, and of course it's a 1911.

They get my vote! They even are working on my gun right now. They first blew me away when I was in a bidding war on e-bay for their work. Too make a long story short. I lost but EGW contacted me and offered to do the work cheaper than I bid!!!!!! Their work is awsome! No short-cuts. I will alway buy EGW first.

If your only talking parts, both Wilson and EGW make top notch parts and you wouldn't go wrong either way. It really comes down to cosmetics and personal preference. For EGW, I prefer the classic design of their slide stops and the custom look of their thick flanged bushings. For Wilson, I prefer their 337 hammer and sear.

I ordered some parts from them last month, It took a week before they were shipped, But understandably, the parts might still be being machined ,as I ordered semi standard parts. When they arrived , the quality is excellent and they fitted easily to my gun, with only minor neccesarry filing , a proof of high precision machining.

I just ordered some more parts just the other day, and plan to order some more in the future, And I'm not even in the USA. Thats how I'm confident with EGW.

my latest: Money where mouth is

Any one heard of EGW? If so, what do you think of the company?

Thanks in advance
My latest professionally-pistolsmithed gun was done by the fine crew at EGW.

I have had professionals pistolsmith other guns for me in the past; I will most definitely use EGW again.
They make my incredibly narrow "list".

I own two Wilson parts

If you were to buy parts for a semi custom gun that you were putting together would you choose EGW or Wilson? << that is to clarify by intention of this thread
I own one Wilson barrel bushing, and one sear spring.

I own many EGW parts, including some for my EAA Witnesses.

Thank you one and all for the Very Kind words.

EGW is not just George Smith though.

Jim Milks has been with me since 1992 building Custom guns and contributing on parts. He worked for his Dad as a machinist before he walked in the door.

Steve Seaman Runs the CNC dept (now with 5 machins) and walked in the door 3 years ago as a machinist already.

Aman Patel is the manager, he walked in the door with IT and Sales experience.

George Bryant came to us as a mason and gun enthusist. He is an all around worker.

Nathan Werner came to us From Cabalas, with a long history of gun invlovment. He is our Front guy

Kay Roswell works here to support her horse habbit :) she has 20 of them. At 67 she is a quick study and keeps on me about spelling, immagine that  and Grammerere

Than there is YouZ
Thank you for All the work, Kind words, input on parts to make, and business. We would not be here with out YOU.

On the ebay thing, where else can get paid to advertise? Or move some dusty older inventory, Or fish for customers that (case in point) may not have any idea who we are. We have sold over 12k Rifle and shotgun mounts in the last year in no small part because of Ebay.

Warmest regards,
geo

George, you've just given a perfect example of why good folks are successful. They don't "get the big head!"
