Does anyone have any experience with Girsan 1911's? I've been checking the out on GB and a 6"long slide in 10mm is 1/4 the price of a Similar Dan Wesson.

Mine has run fine. The problems it has exhibited were mostly related to magazines (none of my 1911s like the 10 round mags, but I own 2 so they will get used dangit)! I wouldn't call it comparable to a Wesson, but 450 rounds no cleaning and minimal lube without any malfunctions related to the gun? I'm not complaining.

My one complaint thus far has been the non-standard sights, but the model you're looking at seems to have adjustable sights so that ough to be a non-issue.

Edit: figured I should have specified, my Girsan is an M1911 Gov't size in 45 ACP.

My MC1911S has been awesome. No problems at all. I bought to try my skills out at custom fitting parts. I have replaced the barrel bushing, slide stop, grip safety, and added a magwell. Left all springs factory. Came with a 3.5 lb trigger.

Has been a hoot to shoot. Everyone loves giving it a try. Shoots nice tight groups, no strange wear, no issues at all. Tried all types of mags as well. Somewhere between 300 and 500 rounds through it, all with the factory red dot sight. I know it's not a lot, but between the lock downs and ammo shortages, my 45's have seen a lot less use at the range unfortunately.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy one OP. I'm on the search for one in 9mm and would also love to find a used Tisas Stingray Carry as well.

My MC1911 C XLV is just barely okay. It has been better than the Colt Series 80 I bought in the mid 1980s and the Dan Wesson Pointman/Patriot I bought a decade or two later but they were both simply horrid.

My issues.

The finish is thin and easily worn away.

The slide catch has worn a scratch parallel to it's horizontal bottom edge.

The biggie; the barrel bushing broke at just over 250 round and in the middle of a session. Launched the full length guide rod cap to Infinity & Beyond. Found the bushing but not the end cap. EAA did send a replacement bushing but I tried other bushings only to learn the Girsan bushing is undersized and not a single one of the bushing that fit all my other 1911s will fit in the frame. I tried to order a few Girsan bushings just to have in my range bag but they are out of stock.

Accuracy has been good and after about 200 rounds reliability was much better.

Overall, I found the Girsan MC1911 C XLV adequate but way below the similar offerings from Tisas, another Turkish company. In addition, Tisas has set up a US based company and so now is directly importing with US based warranty & repair.

oof….good ole MIM parts right there. that process has been a curse to the firearms industry.

personally i’d rather pay more for machined parts than get a discount on something thats destin to break

Ha - and I have the little Girsan 1911 Regular and it's run perfect for me as well. If I were to pick nits, it would be the finish - a little thin and beginning to peal. But at their price point - I won't complain. But that warm & fuzzy feeling does NOT extend to EAA, the importer. The easiest and most cost effective way to retain customers is thru customer service. But based on my own personal experience, and the examples I've read in several 1911 FB groups and forums, customer service is not yet a concept embraced by EAA.

My mc1911s long slide 10mm is kind of rough, I need to shot it more. The safety is a little stiff and notchy, the trigger is slightly high effort and gritty, again, I think all I need to do is run like 500 rounds through it, and let it loosen up a little.
I’ve got aSportsman Warehouse special, it’s green, has a tritium front sight, and an adjustable rear sight, only came with one magazine……
6” long slide 10mm, for $550, it would be a good deal of it worked or not, but it has shot about 40 rounds without any issues. I don’t think it’s the equal to my 2 Tisas when it comes to smooth operation of the controls, though.

I'm mildly upset that Girsan doesn't sell that barrel and/or compensator separately. I don't even care if it doesn't do anything, it looks nice. I like it a little better than what I rigged up (literally a month or 2 before they released that model). Is that a compensated bushing or is it threaded to the barrel?

Seems to be my luck. I buy a pistol, then within about 3 months the manufacturer will release a that same model (or one close enough) already built with the exact features I was looking for. The same thing happened with the Hellcat Pro. I bought one, then the model with the extended and threaded barrel was released shortly after. Springfield does not sell the extended barrel for the Pro by itself (yet). 🤬

Well, I managed to put 350 rounds through the new Girsan today. After about 100 rounds it started acting up... wouldn't go into battery sometimes because the extractor was BEHIND the case rim. Then, it started working fine and in the last 150 rounds or so it functioned perfectly. Go figure. Maybe some cosmoline gumming up the extractor that I didn't get when I cleaned and lubed it.

The pistol feels great. The trigger is probably 6 lbs but it's a crisp break with short travel and short reset. It shoots a tad low for me, but I will likely change the sights anyway. Between the weight and the 'compensator' possibly contributing to recoil management, I could shoot the gun pretty fast and stay in the 10-ring at 10 yards. Good enough to get a "DAYUM!" out of the ol' lady.

Speaking of which... I'm so proud! I had the target at 10 yards, set to face her for 4 seconds then turn away. The target tuned to face her, she put one in the 10-ring and the slide locked back... empty... she pulled out a spare mag, reloaded, and still put 2 more in the 10-ring before the target turned away. She managed that trick 3 times. She is getting so proficient! Watching her run a pistol sure makes me grin.

I just picked this up. Haven't shot it yet, hopefully Sunday. If it proves to be reliable, I will make it my nightstand gun.
