I'm mildly upset that Girsan doesn't sell that barrel and/or compensator separately. I don't even care if it doesn't do anything, it looks nice. I like it a little better than what I rigged up (literally a month or 2 before they released that model). Is that a compensated bushing or is it threaded to the barrel?

Seems to be my luck. I buy a pistol, then within about 3 months the manufacturer will release a that same model (or one close enough) already built with the exact features I was looking for. The same thing happened with the Hellcat Pro. I bought one, then the model with the extended and threaded barrel was released shortly after. Springfield does not sell the extended barrel for the Pro by itself (yet). 🤬

It's a bushing compensator. It probably does little to manage recoil, but on the 4.4" model it doesn't make the pistol overly long.

Well, I managed to put 350 rounds through the new Girsan today. After about 100 rounds it started acting up... wouldn't go into battery sometimes because the extractor was BEHIND the case rim. Then, it started working fine and in the last 150 rounds or so it functioned perfectly. Go figure. Maybe some cosmoline gumming up the extractor that I didn't get when I cleaned and lubed it.

The pistol feels great. The trigger is probably 6 lbs but it's a crisp break with short travel and short reset. It shoots a tad low for me, but I will likely change the sights anyway. Between the weight and the 'compensator' possibly contributing to recoil management, I could shoot the gun pretty fast and stay in the 10-ring at 10 yards. Good enough to get a "DAYUM!" out of the ol' lady.

Speaking of which... I'm so proud! I had the target at 10 yards, set to face her for 4 seconds then turn away. The target tuned to face her, she put one in the 10-ring and the slide locked back... empty... she pulled out a spare mag, reloaded, and still put 2 more in the 10-ring before the target turned away. She managed that trick 3 times. She is getting so proficient! Watching her run a pistol sure makes me grin.

I have the little Girsan 1911 Ultimate and it handles my SWC and Ball reloads without a hiccup.
Ha - and I have the little Girsan 1911 Regular and it's run perfect for me as well. If I were to pick nits, it would be the finish - a little thin and beginning to peal. But at their price point - I won't complain. But that warm & fuzzy feeling does NOT extend to EAA, the importer. The easiest and most cost effective way to retain customers is thru customer service. But based on my own personal experience, and the examples I've read in several 1911 FB groups and forums, customer service is not yet a concept embraced by EAA.

Where did you get that compensator ? I have the black 1911 ST . I’m also looking for the gold accents I’ve been searching forums for hours trying to see where I can buy them.

I just picked this up. Haven't shot it yet, hopefully Sunday. If it proves to be reliable, I will make it my nightstand gun.
