Help removing Gold Cup Trophy Rear Sights

I am trying to take off my Gold Cup Trophy's rear sights, pretty simple right? For some reason I am having a really hard time removing the hex screw that attaches it to the slide. I have tried quite a few different size allen keys but I can't seem to find the correct one. I am starting think I may have stripped it. Does anyone know what size it is? The sight is attached by the screw, right? If I did indeed strip it, do you think a gunsmith could remove?

The set screw might be loctited. I would try heating the screw with a soldering iron before trying the Allen wrench again. If it is stripped, an easy-out can be used to remove it. The square 4 sided ones work better than the spiral type.

Thanks for the reply, I haven't tried heating it up but it sounds like a good idea, I'll have to give it a try.

Agree with heating and the easy out. I have not tried one of those. I was thinking Elliason, and the blued Trophy had those up till they stopped making them a few years ago.

Thanks! I would love to get my hands on one of those blue Gold Cup Trophys to go along with my stainless. Unfortunately my LGS is lame when it comes to Colts. I've been keeping an eye on Gunbroker, but nothing good yet.

I can't speak to Colt's sight, but the last few I removed from other guns recently were all torx. They were made by Kensight. I'm not sure who makes Colt's sight.
