Hey folks,
I just purchased a Shield Plus, great little gun. Was actually sure I wanted the Sig 365 until I tried out the Shield Plus. Now I'm looking for a good comfortable concealed carry holster especially one comfortable for a lefty, guy at the gun shop reccomend AlienGear. Any thoughts/reccomendations? Thanks!

Yes, IWB is usually more concealable, while OWB is often more comfortable. Everything is a compromise.

Unless you are using a "tuckable" holster, with an IWB holster, you'll need a cover garment that covers at least to the bottom of your belt. With an OWB holster, the cover garment needs to extend beyond the bottom of the holster that is below the belt.

On the good side, a little gun like the Shield may not need a big cover garment, even when worn OWB, since the gun is so small, and the barrel so short, depending on the holster, the bottom of the holster may not extend much below the bottom of the belt.

I carry my Shield 9mm M2.0 in a DeSantis SoftTuk and love it. Very comfortable to wear. My only complaint is I wish the "body side" of the holster was taller to keep sweat off of the gun. When it is sweaty weather I need to clean & oil the mag release once or twice a month.

A consideration for AIWB for short barreled guns, is sometimes short holsters don't have enough below the belt line to stabilize the gun, and often you'll get the gun to roll over the belt.

Some folks use a holster for the longer version of a model to limit this problem, such as wearing a G17 holster for their G19 or G26, and some makers intentionally make a longer holster for short guns to provide the stability.

I'm certainly going to follow along for this thread as I'm still searching for the "perfect" M&P Shield holster. My EDC is a M&P Shield 2.0 and love it. I've got a Blackhawk kydex IWB that I use most often for neighborhood walks and it has little printing and is comfortable. I bought a Crossbreed IWB that I want to love and is more comfortable than the Blackhawk but I've had the belt clips slip free many times during firing excersives at the range so I don't trust it. With the change in South Carolina laws allowing for open carry I've switch to a DaSantis OWB w/thumb break as my primary holster if I'm going out other than walking the dogs. I can carry easily and still be concealed with just untucking my shirt and don't worry to much if I accidentally show my carry.
