I did some Inventory on my ammo today.Totals with a minor say box half full etc.45 acp 2000 rds,9mm 1800 rds,and 1350 rds 10mm.I run 45 the Most as I only have 1 10mm,2 9mm.My goal is to push up my 45s back up stock.Highest amount I use to have was 6500,but My Total is 5150,which is probably small in comparison to some here with untold stock.Theres stacks behind whats in front you see. This is a fire rated safe with electronic and Key back up.Winchester ts 20-30 Ammo only safe

The real question is; how much should we buy/stock up on because of the Government’s soon overreaching?
If we go to the range four times a month and shoot on average of 300 rounds per range session, that averages 1200 rounds per month. If we shoot four times a month for twelve months, how much is that per year?
That’s 14,400 rounds per year.
The math puts things into perspective! I guess we decided on how much we should stockpile depending on how much we shoot. Some mor and some less.

Back around '12-'14 when the Obama shortages hit around here, I found myself really low on .22 ammo. I got invited to an afternoon of plinking with some family and friends. I was shocked to find all I had on hand was some of the good pistol match stuff and almost nothing for rifle plinking and nothing to be found around town.

I promised myself when the things got better I would go on a personal program of shoot by the hundred, buy by the thousand. I recently got a great deal on some CCI Mini-Mags and picked up 2500 rounds. While working them into my ammo cabinet I did a quick inventory of my stock.

.22LR - 63,000 rounds ... assorted from bulk plinkers to pistol match

9mm - 17,000 rounds ... Mostly FMJ and couple hundred JHP

.45 acp - 3500 rounds ... again mostly FMJ and maybe 200 JHP

.38/.357 - about 2000 each of factory and a 1000 each of my own reloads. .38/.357 are what I reload the most so I don't keep as much on hand but I have the components to load another 10,000 as needed.

I also ran across four 20rd boxes of 30.06 that I doubt I'll ever shoot. My old shoulder injury just can't take that stuff anymore. This all amounts to 10yrs + of back stocking, picking up a thousand here and a thousand there. The only big bulk purchase I made was when I found a clearance sale on CCI Pistol Match at an amazing price of $5.21 a box when everyone else had it for $9.99 to $12.99 ... I bought 6000 rounds.

We try to keep at least a box or two put back.

I won't live my life being paranoid ... I won't live in fear. Some one wants to take the time to find me a steal my ammo? I say, "Good luck with that". I'd suggest you make peace with your god and make sure your life insurance is paid up before you show up at my place. Trust me, if you knew my neighborhood and my neighbors you wouldn't think much about house break-ins either.

Welcome to Gun World.

If you shoot on a regular basis you will need multiple thousands of rounds. I know several people that stock a few thousand rounds but never practice. One of my friends has not fired any of his rifles or pistols in six years because "...ammo is too expensive." Count the cost, if you can't afford ammo it may be time to give up the endeavor.

Thinking I have enough but starting to buy the older stuff.
The wife has one of those glass cabinets with what I call breakables.
Told her I wanted one of the glass cabinets to display old ammo in boxes. Not sure she likes that idea.
I was a volunteer firefighter in southern Georgia and a friend had a fish aquarium with rattlesnakes in his living room. His home caught on fire called his address and name on scanner this at night. He would catch the snakes and sell them at a rattlesnake round up. Also in southern Georgia.
X wife said why are you moving so slow? Don't you like Tommy?

I just added a little bit to my pile and ran inventory. For the moment:

222 rounds 44 mag
250 rounds 10mm
500 rounds 9mm
650 rounds 45 ACP
900 rounds 40 S&W

No idea how many rounds of 22 LR I have, probably a thousand or so.

And around 400 rounds of 5.56. I should buy more of this, but I also don't shoot the rifle enough to justify stacking a ton of it.

Plus a handful each of 12 gauge, 30-06 and .300 WBY mag. I don't really stockpile those. Last time I looked at the cost of .300 Weatherby it hurt right down to my soul. As much as I love that rifle I'll have to get into handloading before I can even consider shooting it at all. Much less 'stockpiling.'

Give it a bit. That stuff has gone through the roof lately with the Israel debacle. Last I looked, Factory ammo was around 60 cpr

I just carry a single bullet in my shirt pocket. That's all they trust me with.

I wish I could afford to buy a second safe just for my ammo like you have there. Very nice. All of my ammo is in boxes stacked on shelves. About a couple of cases for each of my pistols -9mm, .357 magnum. .41 magnum, and 10mm. And several cases for each rifle caliber - 5.56 and 7.62 Nato and a couple cases of 12 ga. for my shotguns. I've been through ammo shortages several times over the last 30 years and have learned to stock up and keep extra ammo just for shortages, dry spells, and emergencies.

I always am ammused when the news gets a hold of some idiot that just committed armed robbery and say they found an arsenal in his/her apt/house and show 2 guns (a Glock and an AR) along with and 1 box of 5.56. Thank God the criminal only had that much.

When the shortage hit I sold everything I had in stock except 12&20 gauge shot shells. Had some 28’s too. Maybe 300. When prices dropped I kept buying. I started out maybe a month or Two too early since prices dropped a little After I started.

9mm FMJ 6,000
9mm JHP 1,200

.45 2,400 230 g
.45 JHP 520.

380 2,100

10mm 800

38 super 250

this is a lot for me but I don’t see prices going much lower and who knows what the Left might do.

when I see the same news and they say he had a large cache of ammo, 4,000 rounds, I think to myself, starter set.
