I have a 1911 with a colt frame it is full custom but it is strange I've been told before that it is an Airforce special grade, but I have not found out too much info on them.It originally had military grips on one panel and a scope mount grip for the other panel; I still have both. If anyone can help I would appreciate it.

Maybe an old pin gun, the extra long slide and barrel and the scope mount grip suggest that. The frame is a 1956 commercial Gov't.
Better pics would be nice.

The slide is a 1950s Colt as well, probably original to the frame. However it has been stretched out by a gunsmith.

In addition, the slide and barrel are marked for a different gun, '8207'. Its a very interesting gun in itself and also a potential regular Government Model if you put a standard slide and barrel on it. At least it doesn't appear to have any mods to the frame. The slide marking would be exactly the same as the one on it and they can be found for around $350 or so. However, as it is, I bet that thing is a tack driver with match ammo.
BTW, I wouldn't shoot it if I were you without running it by a good gunsmith.

Well, its a very unique, hand-made pistol. I think I would have the barrel ported on top just for grins but I wouldn't really change anything - since the barrel protrudes from the slide, porting would not involve the slide. I am curious about how they did the recoil spring and spring guide. I'm guessing its an 8" barrel, and since it looks like a standard spring cap, it would take quite a long spring.
BTW, you will pick up about 80 FPS velocity with most loads in that long barrel.
Is the barrel one piece or a weld-up?

The spring is longer than my standard 1911's but the guide rod is normal GI size the plug is longer than normal almost twice as long. The barrel is 7 6/8 inches long and looks to be two barrels put together the front inch and 3/4 of the barrel is a larger diameter than the rest of the barrel.
