We have been watching this series on Peacock. It's about a sheriff in a Wy county and he carries a 1911. He also drives an older Ford Bronco, and his rifle is a Win 94, 30wcf. For us 1911 lovers it's a good series and yes there are Indians. It ran for 6 seasons and it's all on Peacock, maybe elsewhere.

It is also on Netflix. There is a Longmire campaign headquarters in Buffalo, WY in the north central part of the state. And, at least a few years back, there was a Longmire display in the Cody Firearms Museum.

There are a few knits to pick with the 1911 use in the series. But, overall it is not a bad show.

This response is in a humorous vein, so try not to be offended ...

"Welcome to the party, pal."

"Longmire" came out a decade ago

Great show. Very enjoyable series. Another option id recommend is Justified. It was a show on FX but is now on Hulu.

Just read that Justified is going to be continued this year. I am happy they decided to do it. Also for you Jack Reacher fans. New series starts Feb 4 on Prime.

I tried to watch Longmire, but there wasn't enough 1911 action and I quickly got bored with it. I stopped watching early into the second season. I'm really not into TV shows no matter what the subject is.

Right, though one would never know it from his accent. A similar one which surprised me was Damian Lewis, who while being born in the U.K., did a stellar job acting/playing Dick Winters in the series, Band of Brothers.

British and Australian actors tend to do a much better job mimicking American accents than American actors do trying to be a Brit or Aussie. Just listen to Kevin Costner in Robin Hood if you want to have your ears raped.

Overall, a good show but famous for gun goofs and some dumb dialog.
Gun Goofs: In first or second show, a man is ambushed by rifle fire on his ranch. The coroner tells Longmire he's looking
for someone with an antique rifle because the slug is a 45-70 and modern guns don't chamber 45-70.
In a later show, Longmire hears the unmistakable sound of someone racking the slide of a pump gun.
When he turns around, the bad guy is holding a side by side.
Dumb Dialogue: Cady, Longmire's daughter, is doing legal aid on the reservation, when a young girl comes in and tells
her she's been raped. Cady blurts out, "You need a lawyer !" No, Cady, I think she needs the police.

I liked the show as well. In addition to the gun goofs, the big goof I saw was when the female Philly cop's father came to visit with cheesesteak sandwiches from Pat's Steaks in South Philla. They ate them with a knife and fork! Born and lived in the Phila area all my life I have never seen anyone do this. Even the most prissy, girlyest, ultra feminine girls I have known and dated never did this.

My GF and I watched it. I like that the use of a Buck 110 Hunter is used in good and bad situations. Some of the firearm's scenes do have some problems. It does cover current issues like drug use by regular people corporate greed. And land use issues. I like that he uses a 1911.Notice how his Ford Bronco changes years as Netflix start funding the show? And his Deputy "Ferg" revolver goes from a blued revolver to a stainless-steel model. I would like to see it continued with his daughter as the new sheriff.

The 1911 being carried with the hammer down sorta bothered me, but I managed to overlook it. It didn't bother me as much as when I realized that the title character in Bosch was carrying HIS 1911 magazines BACKWARD on his gun belt. <SMH>

It was enjoyable enough to watch, particularly when Katee Sackhoff was in the scene. But I used to remark to my wife who thought the scenery was really nice, she has never been to Wyoming. That I figured that they pretty much only ever filmed in the summer.

Am in the middle of "re-watching" it now. I had originally forgot all the gun goofs and the fact that the actor playing Longmire, knew nothing about guns. But the director, nor armourer
for the show didn't know how guns functioned either. When the screw-ups occur it can be quite distracting. But a good storyline.

Now if you want to get into what is not western, his hat is NOT western. It is Australian drag hat. Not quite a S***kickers hat, but close. But what can you expect from Weirdwood.

The lack of attention to technical detail is probably a reason it really wasn't a big hit. I will sit there and dwell on that instead of focusing on the rest of the show. It wasn't just the gun or hat details either. Stuff like that completely turns me off and shows the director is weak and just trying to rush something out. To me, it just wasn't a good show and therefore after watching a couple of episodes I wasn't lured to come back.

I am around six books in and found them to be entertaining, quick-reads. Longmire does not take himself too seriously, and likes to use dry humor whenever he can. I wish the TV series was more faithful to the books as they would have been even more interesting to watch.
