Well, it looks like I might get the 9mm 1911 I've been wanting for Christmas.

I had planned to stock up on Metalform 9mm 1911 mags, but I found out I can get Mec Gar 9mm 1911 magazines at a good price from a local supplier; about the sme price as Metalforms from Brownell's, but without the shipping costs. Mec Gar is the brand I prefer for my Browning Hi Power, but I have no experience with their 1911 mags.

Does anyone here have any experience with Mec Gar's 1911 mags, the 9mm version in particular? Are they comparable in quality and reliability to the Metalform mags?

Thanks in advance,

I bought eight Mecgar .38 supers recently. They all function fine but five would not drop free.

I emailed Mecgar about the problem. It took them two weeks to answer my email but did offer to help. In the meantime, I miked the mags and found the five wider at the top than the others. I tweaked them with pliers and now they work.

I am picking up a 9mm 1911 this morning and will likely buy Chip McCormick 10 rd 9mm mags. I'll shoot it in Single Stack (minor PF) and 10 rd mags will do well.

I've used some Mec Gars in my 45acp 1911's and in my BHP, but not in my 9mm 1911's. They worked just fine and are quality mags. I recently had a very good experience with Mec Gar customer service in helping me rebuild (at no cost) a Mec Gar 45acp 1911 mag that had been damaged when I had a kaboom.

Like Weshoot2, I didn't know CMC made 10 rd. 9mm mags. Where can we get them?
