Can anyone tell me how the daytime visibility of the Meprolite night sites are?
I am also wondering what you all think about the Trijicon night sights.
Since it looks like Meprolight has changed the look of the Tactical wedge night sites ( they look like they have changed them to a smooth sided Novak style. The ridges on the side is what sold me on those sites since it matched the slide) I am thinking of getting some Trijicon Novak style because they have a white outline around the tritium lens.

I am thinking of getting some Trijicon Novak style because they have a white outline around the tritium lens.
The factory Meprolight sights on my Kimber came with a little white outline around the Tritium inserts. Its looks like like a white plastic insert and is very visible as far as the night sights I have owned. I have had SigLights before and didn't like them in the day or night as they weren't white outlined and the Tritium inserts seemed small, Well they seemed small compared to the Mepro's but it may just be my perception.

Hope this helps.

I have both. Trijicon on a glock and mepro on the kimber. Both have a white outline, and both are night sights. For what it is worth.... I think the mepro tritium capsules are brighter than my trijicon sights. I am not for sure, but to me the mepro capsules appear to be a hair bigger, if correct that would explain why I think they are brighter.

I find Meprolights seem a bit brighter but unfocused...Trijicons appear to my eyes as a bit less bright than Meps but sharper...plus I like that Trijicon is a US company and uses aluminum tubes with sapphire lens however I've never really had an issue with either...given a choice, I always buy Trijicon since 1988...

I'll take Meps if I can get them, good sight picture and I've never had to deal with the factory.

My last slide that was sent to Trijicon took two trips and 5 months to get it right. I'll avoid Trijicon in the future if I can.

Anyone can make a mistake and maybe it was an isolated instance, but two pistols purchased back in 2007 and the 07 Meps are still like new.

I just purchased a brand new pistol with Trijicons and the front sight has a lousy white outline paint job, I can live with it, but it's noticeable, further souring my taste.

I have meprolight, trijicon, and Truglo TFO. I like the profile of the meprolights the best. However, the Truglo work the best for me in daylight and low light because they are fiber optic and tritium. The trijicon are decent, but I prefer the others.

So far the consensus sounds like Meprolites are the way to go.............. if they ever get some in.

The Trijicons I have seen are recessed and fill with dirt, carbon and such. The Mepros have a clear filler of some type and are flush which wipe clean easily and don't seem to trap dirt. They seem brighter too.

I wish someone installed tritium in black inserts like long ago so I don't have to see those white dots that SW seemed to come up with years ago.

I don't chime in here often, but just wanted to point out that there are more than one type of Trijicons out there. The HD series night sights are substantially brighter in all environments than the other generic versions. They are available with either a bright orange or a bright yellow front ring around a Tritium insert. The orange is great in daylight, and much easier to pick up quickly than just about any white ringed sight. I have them on 2 XDM's, and they are significantly better in all ways (in my opinion) than the "night sights" that came standard on my Super Carry Custom.

Both are very good sights. I have the Meps on 2 Kimbers and they are a good sight. I have a pair of the Trijicons on a sig also. They have been on the Sig since 1995 when my dad purchased the gun. They still glow today. They are significantly dimmer and I am looking to replace them but they still glow. Both are a great sight but Heinie sights are what I'm slowly switching my guns over too. They are very fast to the eyes in the straight 8 design and some models have a ledge or cocking shoulder built in. Just something to think about. You can't go wrong with either Meps or Trijicons but look at others also.
