I fit a new Kart NM 45 barrel to my Clark Heavy Longslide I found a way to verify to make sure the primer is centered I know they make a tool but I'm a garage gunsmith.
I took a new empty case drilled out the primer pockets to accept a 3/32 punch and it fit in the firing pin hole very closely. I left it in there thru the whole lug cutting process and it came out perfectly centered with a .043 thou lock up I think is my best barrel fit job yet it's nice and snug have to give it the bump on the back end anxious to test ! I also used the Brownell's lug cutter kit don't get the impression this is all I used to hold the barrel locked up during the cutting process.!

Definately more precise. I've had a nail do that before if you whack it just right back at the cuticle/skin. Hurts but as the nail grows you get that blood spot. If it hurts like hell for long it will develop a blood blister as it grows out and you have to drill it. That sucks because you have to wait instead of whacking the nail and drill it the same day.

Happens at work every week turning wrenches, I work my hands or arms down in to do something and might feel a little pressure loosening or tightening something, sometimes no pressure. Once I'm done a minute later where'd the red stuff come from, damn I'm bleeding. There is a good thing to this though, we're old-school and not the new breed of puss's.

:ROFLMAO: Nah, you're just old... like me. I can just touch the back of my hands or forearms on some things and 5 minutes later I'm wiping the blood up off the floor while trying to remember what'nhell I did to damage myself.

Good job on that Barrel. As far as the injury(ies) to the hands it is an almost daily occurrence for me and has been all life. I just stay current on Tetanus shots… don’t need lockjaw in addition to the hand cuts and bruises.

I shot a match last night with the Clark LS I shot up a bunch of ammo during practice which might have led to a issue I had towards the end of the match the gun was not going into full battery and it started shooting pretty high maybe 6 inches high. Pretty disappointing to be sure but I found out why when I tore it apart there was a bunch of junk in the lugs that was preventing full lock up so that explains why it was shooting high and lock up was giving me fits after cleaning the lock up is back to normal but I never had a gun do that before.
I think I may switch powder to HP-38 or a VVN-310 or something cleaner than BE anyone ever had this happen during a match?

I did oil more than usual mostly because it’s a new barrel and bushing so trying to be extra vigilant it definitely messed me up and got me off track I guess I should learn a lesson here and recognize that when my accuracy starts going haywire it’s not always my bad habits !

My new Kart I fitted into a new Caspian frame with Late 1960s Colt slide.
Accurate, but I should have at least let a pistolsmith check it. Colt 1911s are forgiving ...until they are not.

Construction started downhill when 2 x 4s became 2X 3 somethings...and untreated in bad climates.

give WST as a replacement for BE. it's a bit slower so add 3 tenths to your BE loads.. for something a bit closer to BE try tightgroup with the same loads as BE.. much cleaner. I run WST at the short line in all my BE pistols and have run tightgroup at the long line with equal success as BE. too much oil with BE can be very messy.
