Height should be .180. Just about every style of Sight is available with a front tenon or post / rear dovetail. Fusion Firearms site is easy to search and has notations regarding fits to Colt clones. You can also have a front dovetail milled generally for around $35. Once you pick a style, the search is on.

 

for colt style sights, does it matter what series they are? or will the series 70 and series 80 both fit?

Go to http://dawsonprecision.com they have excellent sights and have them that fit the RI with minimal fitting.

 

Agree with this. Here is what I got from Arnel at RIA.
"FRONT - .330x65deg.x.073(dovetail cut) and the REAR is .495x65deg....just a heads up, aftermarket sights and dovetail cut varies and sights are subject for fittings."

One other requirement I should have mentioned. RIA uses a narrow tenon. Look for that in Sight descriptions and/or clarify that with Seller when ordering.

 

Look on Brownells. They have the front sight staking tool for around $50. You can measure the tenon slot with the barrel removed and easily compare the reading with the parts description to determine wide or narrow. You tube video will show you what you are looking at as far as difficulty. I just replaced the sights on one of mine and used the Brownells tool. Came out a better crimp than factory. Instructions included. Total price for tool, front sight, and a 10-8 Performance .140 U notch rear sight was around $100.

 

It is likely a 70 Series. Tell the Seller what model you have.
